Good evening fellow DISers. I'm a visitor from the U.S. Community Board; I've come seeking your help because I know DISers to be helpful to one another, and because one of you is more likely to have the answer to my question. Even though I lived in England for two years, this subject never came up. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
In the U.S., when a new housing community is built, the builder takes care of the preliminary landscaping of each lot - a tree or two, perhaps some bushes, but he definitely provides new grass, which we call SOD. My DD, a true "inquiring mind," wondered what sod is called in the U.K. She doesn't think it's called sod, because of the common expression used to tell someone to "get lost."
This may very well win the prize for dumbest question of the day, but if anyone can help, I'd love to present her with the answer when she gets home from work in about 30 minutes. That's not a deadline - any time will be fine. Thanks for indulging me (now I feel homesick!)
