Question from a friend...

So my friend and I are going to Disneyland in September and she just added her ticket to the Disneyland app. She texted me all concerned because it says her ticket expires on the 3rd of august. I know you only have 13 days after the first use of the ticket to use the rest of the days but if she just added it to the app and has not actually used the ticket at the parks does that start the countdown? I was thinking no but wanted to ask on here just to be sure.
