Question for you parents of toddlers!

I'm looking for ideas of toys that 1 yo little boys are playing with these days! My DGS is 15 months and I like to keep some toys in the house that he doesn't have at home. We have a play kitchen that he spends a little time playing with, and the usual little cars and balls. Is there any toy your little one really seems to like? He's a pretty active little boy so it's hard to get him to sit still for too long.

Wood blocks. My kids played with them from the time they could stack things. the also played with pots and pans--put blocks in there and give them a wooden spoon. Kids like "forts" too and that doesn't cost a thing. But don't expect anything to capture their attention for long--it just isn't gonna happen. Perhaps you can invest in some active play things, like a little slide or small plastic play structure.

Chunky puzzles. My DS who is almost 2 still loves to throw rolled up socks into a laundry basket. Fisher Price I Can Play Basketball. Put dried pasta into empty water or soda bottles and tape the cap on really well so he can't get it off to make maracas. Weebles Musical Tree House. Duplo blocks.

My kids loved alphabet blocks for the longest time, and floor puzzles. Those foam floor puzzles also doubled as play mats. Good to play the blocks on. Falling wooden blocks on laminate floors is almost as loud as the Sun Chips bags.

My son's favorite things are Geo Trax trains (the one with the remote can drive anywhere, not just on the tracks!), a light saber that makes noise and his Lincoln Logs. He also LOVES legos - at that age they are duplo blocks and they can play with a set of those for hours.

Playskool Air-Tivity table! Kept the kids entertained for long periods of time. They loved, loved, loved this!

I don't know if they still make them or how easy they are to come by. But if you can get one, I highly recommend it!
