If you have ever taken a pet to Universal, where could you take it besides your room? Could it walk onto the elevator on a leash and out through the lobby to get outside? Was it banned from the pool area even when on a leash? And what fif you do about the housekeeper cleaning the room - put it in a pet carrier? Just some thoughts since we are considering taking our "Trudy". I know there are a lot of anti-pet people on these boards and I hope this topic doesn't turn into a thread about pet dander. So, if you've taken a pet I'd appreciate your response.

I just stayed at the PBH and saw at least 5-6 families with dogs. I saw them walking in the lobby and halls, walking around the bay/shopping area and sitting at the table/bar area near the pools while their family was eating.

Since I did not bring my dog, I am not sure on how the houskeeping issue is handled.

The PBH is a beautiful hotel, I hope you have a great time!

We have taken our Yorkie to each of the Loews Hotel at Universal. The only places that the pets are restricted from are from the pool and restaurants. At HRH and RPH you have to walk past the pool to get to the designated pet walking area. We kept him on a leash and had no problem. We walked him all over the grounds, the lobby and elevator. When you check in they give you a pet amenity kit that contains a sign to hang on your door and a few other things (we have gotten some treats, bowls, a mat, even some cologne). For housekeeping, we found it best to approach them directly when they are working in your area and take the dog with you for an hour- we were told to call housekeeping and they would arrange it. Doing it their way you would need to keep your dog out all day. Hope this info helps you.

I've been staying at HRH and PBH this week and I asked about the pet policies.

They have certain rooms designated as "pet rooms" and they try to put pets only in those rooms. When they have to put a pet in another room for some reason, they "detail" the room after the pet leaves, taking out all the drapes and such and completely cleaning them to remove any trace of pet dander.

Hope this reassures those with allergies.

Noted on the pet program area of the Loews Hotel site:

"Loews has also established standard cleaning procedures with specially-filtered vacuums to remove any pet allergens from the room."
