Question for those who have sold points?

I'm currently checking the resale boards for a small add on for my BWV contract.

As everyone knows, tiny contracts come and go in the same day. However, big contracts seem to sit for sale for a while.

My question is, for those who have sold large point contracts, why didn't you break them up ( I've seen in other threads this is doable? ) and sell a few small point contracts instead of one large contract. Since the buyer pays CCs and the smaller point contracts fetch more money per point, I'd think that would be a great incentive for the seller plus there would be lots of happy people who are willing to spend when the right contract comes along..

I've never sold a contract but I would suspect that they did not know when they purchased that they could break them up. Our initial contract was 250 points and they never offered or suggested that we do smaller contracts. We have done several addons and have done most of them in 100 or 50 point contracts.

Yes you have to buy them that way and most people do not know that buying a 160,40,50 for 250 (for example) is an option.

Large contracts cannot be split up after purchase. What you must have seen on other threads is that when you buy through Disney you can split the points into smaller contracts.

If there's any regret I have with buying DVC, I wish I would have split my 250 points into contracts of 150 and 100 or even 150, 50, 50. Since my mom passed away (who I traveled with), I wish I could sell just 50 or 100 points.

After buying two resales (at 100 and 150 each), I chose to buy add-ons (5 more) that range from 50 to 75 and at different resorts-- to have the 11 month advantage). I split one 100 pt purchase into 2 50-pt contracts. It is nice to know I can always downsize from the present total of 550 in the future if I choose to.

I plan on starting the same plan as you. We will be buying our first 100 point plan here in the future. Then who knows!
