I was just wondering..it occured to my husband and I last night..what if..just what if when we go in May this year we too are sickend by the FP+ and dont want to go back..where else would we go? we are totally stumped..its always been Disney for us..we just dont have a clue where else to go that could come close.. for those who are done with Disney..where are you now planning to vacation to? thanks in advance:)

DLR, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai.

Actually, we are in the process of planning a trip to Europe right now (not to see DLP. Lol). There's a big world out there. Go see it!

I don't consider myself done with Disney just Walt Disney World and just for now. This year were choosing to go to Disneyland and then to Hawaii so we can still get our Disney fix. We really love Disneyland so it's not a loss to us. Next summer we are renting a villa in Italy with a bunch of our friends. So even though it's always been Disney for us....everyone always teased us for going to Disney every year.... there is life outside of Disney World you just have to open yourself up to the possibilities!! All that said I'm hoping that Disney can clean up this fast pass + mess....as soon as they do, we'll be back with bells on!!

If you need a Disney vacation, try Disneyland! Or, a DCL cruise.

Our favorite non-Disney vacations are island-hopping in Hawaii, cruises to explore new locations, or exploring sites within our home state, California.

As much as this is.a Disney forum and Disney wants your vacation $ First look at your bank account Think North South East West & what interests both of you Go to the travel section at the library & check out some books The world is your oyster

I am not done with Disney either. I am however not booking another trip to WDW until I feel there have been modifications to the current system that make it workable for me. A good start would be sorting out the website which quite frankly is enough even pre trip to make me wonder why we didn't cancel when we could.

DLR is an option at the moment, as is a Cruise, although we are considering a non Disney vacation next year for the first time in years. That doesn't mean I'm done with Disney; but it does mean I'm sitting this one out for observation before offering to pay them a few thousand to be a sponsor for their test.

I'm not done with Disney or WDW or anything of that type...but if I decided I didn't want to go to WDW for some reason I would try a Disney cruise, Aulani in Hawaii, or (and I really want to try one of these some day regardless of how I feel about WDW) an Adventures by Disney tour.

If none of those appeals to you because you are literally done with all things Disney...then I would look into a non-Disney version of any of the above. I like to do a lot on vacation...so I would want to go somewhere that had a lot of things that I wanted to see or do. Really loved my trip to Scotland about...gosh...15 years ago or so. Also loved my trip to Greece about 6 years ago. Mexico was pretty cool too...at least the parts where we visited old Mayan ruins. On my bucket list is a trip to Egypt.

There's so many things besides Disney that I would love to do...I just love me some Disney World so much that it can be hard to fit all that other stuff in. ;)

I'm not done with Disney, but we are going to see it from Universal onsite from now on.

We likely will be "done" with Disney after our trip in early May. And that's not all because of FP+ or recent changes. We've moved back to PA and after having lived in central FL for just over 5 years (annual passholders and regular visitors), the distance, our age, and encroaching health problems are helping us make the decisions.
I truthfully had hoped for one more WONDERFUL enjoyable trip since it would likely be our last. Not sure that's going to happen, but we'll see.
And we have no problem whatsoever, considering the cost of a nice Disney trip -- and no we don't go deluxe or stay for weeks at a time -- finding another destination. We could have had some dandy vacations for what we've spent on Disney since 1982...........
We'll likely keep it simple and spend time with friends in areas such as Virginia Beach, parts of New England, maybe even down to the Carolinas or the FL panhandle. The world is a huge place. And even for us "oldies" there are plenty of places to see and things to do.
I'll miss Disney. I think. Maybe after this upcoming trip I won't miss it as much as I thought I would.

We're not done with Disney by any means with 4 young kids. Frankly, we never used FP much (1-2 times a day) and still managed to do everything we wanted to do during our trips, so we're not that out of joint about the changes.

However, Disney never has been and never will be the only place we vacation. We want our kids to visit many of the states and Washington D.C., European countries, Canada, Latin and South America (two of our kids are Guatemalan). The world has so many things to see and we plan to see them. Once our kids are all at least 5yo, we plan to start taking long road trips through parts of America and Canada to explore national parks, museums, etc. and travel to other continents when the youngest is about 9-10 yo. Disney will become something we do less often.

We went in Dec. and didn't have any issues with FP+. Going again in April and looking forward to being able to ride Soarin' three times again as we did in Dec. thanks to FP+. Something we couldn't do on past trips. But even if we couldn't... I'd STILL pick Disney World over any other vacation spot. So Glad I still feel the magicpixiedust: that being said... Hoping they change FP+ so we can us it in more than one park per day. :thumbsup2

I love Disney and will be there again a week from today. As a matter of fact, my DW is washing and doing some preliminary packing as we speak.

That being said, there's a whole wide world out there to see. You can go on a cruise, a resort on some island, go to the beaches, take a road trip, go camping, visit the majestic cities in Europe, go to Latin America. Also, you know that the #1 vacation destination in the world is... Thailand. So there's plenty of places to go!

By the way, this is actually a concern for me. If you don't get out and go to other places, every little change that Disney does to the parks can be potentially catastrophic. Take the FP+ thing- if you ONLY go the WDW, this is a big deal. Me? It's something, but I intend on having fun. Part of my attitude is because we went to Riviera Maya last year and it was great! We had so much fun! It was beautiful!

So this year, we're looking forward to going back to WDW. It's going to be fun, but nothing like what we did last year! And next year? Jamaica!

So I really advise on going to other destinations if you only go the Disney. The change will put everything in perspective and will make your next WDW visit less stressful, IMO.

I wouldn't say we are "done" with Disney, but we are taking a far step back until I feel the value that was there 10-15 years ago returns. We are keeping our upcoming trip for this year, but with changes (Universal, Kennedy Space Center, LegoLand, Busch Gardens, etc) and a break until 2019/2020 instead of annually.

Disney was never the only place we vacationed, so we'll just be doubling up on other vacations. Places that are on our radar include California (non Disney), Florida Keys, Washington DC, Grand Canyon, New York City, Hawaii, Alaska, Atlantis, Seattle, Europe, Australia, and a few others. DH says if I skip a replacement vacation one year, I could totally gut and redo our kitchen, so that may be 2015.

We have no problems with FP + and have used it on a trip with 8 people. There were a couple of bumps in the road but not having to run across parks trying to get fastpasses and instead it seemed a lot more relaxing having those already in hand. We are going again with 4 of us in 45 days and I have already got everything linked to our MDE. But I responded to suggest to you that if you haven't already tried one and you both love the Disney lifestyle like we do, you should definitely look into Disney Cruises. Totally different but still a Disney experience. We are getting ready for our third Disney Cruise. Best Wishes

This. I'm not at all "done with disney", but we already visit a Disney destination for no more than half of our vacations.

For example, in 2013, we went to Anaheim for a week (Disneyland + Knotts), Washington DC for the Cherry Blossom festival, a full week in Paris in a 2BR apartment in the city, with four nights at DLRP tacked on to that (so almost two weeks in France).

In 2014, we have fewer things planned, but they include a week at Sedona/the Grand Canyon, our spring break week at Bay Lake Tower. We are hoping to supplement that with a late summer trip to the Wisconsin Dells, or something similar.

In 2015, we are planning Universal for President's Week, and Hilton Head (at a non-Disney) resort for July 4th week. I'm hoping to squeeze one more something-or-other in there, possibly in Southern California for Easter.

My eldest graduates in 2016. That will probably include a week back at WDW (mid-winter or spring break), or maybe the Cayman Islands. We are hoping our "last hurrah" as a family before she goes to college will be a couple weeks in Hawaii that summer (this probably won't be Aulani unless I get lucky.)

I'm also someone who isn't worried about FP+. We don't measure our theme park vacations by how many rides we get. We are there to spend time together as a family, and the attractions are just sort of the stage on which that happens. We have as much fun on the TTA as we do Space Mountain.

Not done with Disney. Just on hiatus from WDW for a while, hoping for adjustments after this "test" is over.

And there are TONS of great places to see. We're planning on driving back to the desert southwest this summer. Canyonlands, Arches, Zion........ there are amazing things to see and experience out there. Oh, and we'll get our Disney fix by heading back to DLR in December.

For those "done" with may I suggest Schloss Neuschwanstein in Fuessen Germany to see what a real princess castle looks like and then hit the rest of nations that Epcot nicely duplicates. France and Italy aren't too far away from this starting point.

Keep in mind the summer months draw crowds to Neuschwanstein. ISO Brazilian tour groups be prepared for Japanese and the Chinese groups. Positive point is they are quiet and orderly. There are no fast passes so be prepared to arrive early or wait in line. ( biergarden in the area for those who prefer not to wait).

Because of failing health I only have 1 more Disney vacation in mind. That & 2 non-expiration tkts. What can I say, I'm frugal as I was taught by the Dis.

In comparison any trip we did involving nature rivaled Disney. After all disney fashions itself around Countries, places, people &
Even some of the resorts - places. Animals - characters.
Our Grand Canyon trip was the best! A well planned trip will save you time which is crucial because the distances
are considerable, plus the time of year Spring & Fall ideal. We flew to LV rented a car & drove 1800 miles to Hoover Dam - Route 66 (yes the one in the cars movie) Grand Canyon - Bryce Canyon - Zion Canyon - back to LV in two weeks. We stayed on site at each park. Each canyon has a different look. Dining at El Tovar overlooking GC is great. Staring at the open expanse can be mesmerizing. The hues, colors come to life. Sedona is beautiful. I saw a lot of foreigners enjoying the vistas. If anyone can or have an inclination, do it.

We did a Disney cruise, my favorite .......the beach at Castaway Cay. Lol

I have a lot of places I want to see in addition to disney so if I decide not to go to disney, we pick another place we want to see. We love many things about disney, loved the Disney cruise but I agree, there is so much more to the world. I find magic in other vacations, not Disney magic but still wonderful trips.
In the last 5 years we did Disney 3 times, a Disney cruise, Bermuda, Turks and caicos, LV, camping, AC, OC,MD, and have a NC beach vacation this summer before our upcoming Disney trip again. I add to my list way faster then I get to them.

I don't plan to be completely done with WDW but I am giving it a break and will only go when I visit other local attractions in the area. I still like it but I need something else now.

As for where to go, the possibilities are endless. Disney itself has tons of other parks. Personally, I have my eye on Italy as my big goal but there are countless others.
