question for the new scrappers on this board re: animal kingdom swap

well I guess there is some interest there. :cool1: so next question. disney or not disney? maggie

If you're taking votes, I vote for Disney. :teeth: Maybe Animal Kingdom or MGM? Or even Magic Kingdom if it won't be stepping on toes. Personally I'd rather not do it by lands though - that's one reason I didn't sign up for the other one.

Of course non-Disney is good too! :teeth:

not to worry, I don't really want to do anything by land (no offense). maggie

I'd be interested, but to tell you the truth I'm as intimidated as h$%$. I'm a VERY plain, get it done kind of scrapper. I've never swapped before. Yikes!

Have you checked the photos posted in the Swap Calendar thread at the top of the forum? I felt the same way before I started! I just assumed everyone else was leagues ahead of me. ::yes:: I'd looked at their pages & thought I'd never be able to do it.

But when I started looking at just the elements...I realized that there were several things that I could do. I started with square & borders. Check them out. I'd bet you could do them - or something else that appeals to you! A lot of what was intimidating me was the way the pages were put together - not so much the individual elements.

Give it a try! Everyone has to start somewhere! :teeth: And it's so neat to see in person how others do things - much more helpful than just a picture of things. ::yes::

This sounds like my kind of swap :goodvibes !!! Thanks for the great idea. I love anything Disney, but will add that when I did the color swap it was really easy to put a page together with the finished items (just a thought).

I definitely want to play! :hyper:

I am Over CJ-ed at this time...but wanted to throw my support to a newbie friendly swap.... ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

would anyone be interested in animal kingdom? magic kingdom seems to be being done in several forms. maggie

animal kingdom is my Fave park so that sounds like a good place to start
as a newbie to both swaps and scrapping

I might be interested in this if the due date was far enough away. The Magic Kingdom swap will be my first. Darlene was very nice about saying newbies were welcome for that one also.

I would really, really like an AK swap as I'm trying to get all of my park stuff done. It would be great if the due dates are kind as well. :teeth: You're so sweet to offer Maggie!!

ok, I'll have to go check when all the other swaps are due so we don't have any major conflicts. maggie

DAK works for me

I dont really care as I just need *something* to do.... and as I hope to be living back at WDW by this summer... I'll prob use it all :D

I was on board to host a Disney MGM studios swap at some point this year, and will still do so when all the dust settles from all the others :) I don't remember who originally volunteered to host the Animal Kingdom swap, but I think it's a great idea!!

Can't wait to see everything you guys make! I bet this will be an amazing swap!
Have fun!
maggie thanks for setting this up!

I'd be interested, too, in an AK swap, depending on the due date. I just sent out my first swap (the Year-round one), and am anxiously waiting to see how my items "stack up" to the others.

Thanks for thinking of a way to make it easier for us new swappers to get started! :wave2:

Maggie, I'd be interested in an AK swap too! I have so many pictures from that park...

ok so I'm trying to keep this as uncomplicated as possible... :rotfl2: so here are a few questions for y'all.

1) is a due date of march 24th ok?
2) do you want to just do one element (ie:someone just does borders, someone just does squares, etc)
3) or do y'all want more of a page kit? (you do photo mats and something else that goes with that, ie) photomats and squares, etc
4) small groups?

that's all I can think of right now. maggie

1) Mar 24th is fine with me
2) one element is good with me - especially if we don't do small groups
3) I'd prefer not to do a large page kit...2 elements per person sounds great. I think large kits may become overwhelming for newbies. JMHO
4) small groups are good - but up to 11 would be okay too

Date sounds fine!

Would you elaborate on #4 please. We work with some others to create a page kit?

As an intimidated newbie, #2 sounds more in my comfort zone.
I'd probably vote for #3 although I've never swapped before so what do I know? :rotfl2: It seems like things might "go better" KWIM?

Could some swap vets chime in here and educate us swap virgins? :worship:

Thanks and sorry to be so clueless...
