i was just wondering...

has anyone here taken clomid before?

i've been reading some websites and have read horror stories about women who have taken clomid in order to conceive no longer being eligible for health insurance...

just wondered what your experience was...

thanks!

Yep, I took clomid for 3 months and thanks to it, I have Colton. :D I had no problems with it and no complaints. I highly recommend it if you are having trouble conceiving.
Hang in there! :D

thanks for the reply camcolt!

did your insurance cover everything?

I took 4 rounds of Clomid, the only real side effect that I had was extreme moodiness, I cried all the time. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me, but if you're Dr recommends it I wouldn't be afraid to try! I did just read a really scarey article in "O" magazine about fertility treatments. I don't know, but it seemed a little biased and purposefully scary to me. It talks about an increased risk of ovarian cancer from Clomid.

I want to say that yes, the insurance covered it and we just had to pay a co-pay, like any other prescription, but that was 5 years ago, so I could be foregetting. Then again, I think if they didnt cover it and we had to try to get them to, I probably would have remembered that, so Im pretty sure it was covered.

I took Clomid five years ago. I did not experience any bad side effects. It did cause eggs to grow on my ovaries as shown on ultrasounds. When the eggs were a certain size, DH would give me a shot of HCG. I was not able to conceive this way.

My insurance did not cover the cost of the Clomid. The early dosages were small and were only about $30.00 per month (the generic Serophene). When the doctor increased my dosages, the cost per month shot up to about $100).

My insurance did not cover the cost of the HCG but it did cover the ultrasounds and doctor visits. These were determined to be for the purpose of diagnosing infertility and not treatment.

(My problem turned out to be PCOS and was treated with Glucophage)

Good luck to you!

Denae
