Question for the camp cooks

I like to cook pork loin at home in the oven. I usually wrap it in foil with some spices and splash of something or other for flavor. I would like to cook some while camping, but I don't want to tie up the camper oven for hours. Could I place the foil wrapped pork in a crock pot without adding any liquid and use it as a defacto oven? Or maybe I could just forget the foil and put it directly in the crock pot with a small amount of liquid?

What say the cooks?

Crock pot, no foil, add your seasonings and a bit of liquid and you should be good to go. If you want, throw in some onions/mushrooms/peppers.

Some liquid options that will also add some flavor...

seasoned broth or some sauce will work well, pork loin typically doesnt require any additional liquid other than seasoning.

Then again, if you are just hanging out at the campsite for a few days, nothing beats a pork roast cooked in a cast iron dutch oven. Nothing like the anticipation of that roast as you spend a solid 2 to 3 hours kickin back with friends while tending the coals and rotating the dutch oven every so often as the aroma starts to fill the air.

Add a few spices to the roast and a few adult beverages to the cook and who cares how it comes out ! Seriously, it is a great way to just relax and share some good times with friends when not having an agenda or other distractions.

You Gals & Guys are good !!!!! When it's my turn to cook, I pray the microwave is OK, but I do make good scrambled eggs.
