Question for SoCal Locals - Santa Anita Race Park

Planning a visit on Sunday, May 18. There's a classic car show on before the races. How early do we need to plan on arriving and what kind of crowds should we anticipate? Thanks in advance.

Given the time of the car show which starts at 10 am and the horse racing starts at 12:30 it may get pretty crowded. I will post the article so you can read and judge for yourself.. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I'm not sure really what to think but my DH is super-excited about the hot rods and although I am supremely unlucky, I like to play the ponies. I guess we'll just go with the flow and see what the day brings. We're kind of regretting now that we took a hotel in Anaheim as we've since made plans that mostly take place in the Valley.

I've never been in the infield in Santa Anita, so I don't know the logistics (it has it's own parking area), but I almost always end up missing the first race there. Finding the right path to the parking lot is a maze (I think they might move the barriers just to play mind games) and there are so many levels of admission it takes awhile to get to you area. I also don't usually stay for the last race, so I'm not complaining about missing races. If the car show doesn't before the first race, I wouldn't worry about timing so much. Unless you have a reservation at Frontrunners or something.
