Question for Lenox Disney Collectors

Hello! I feel in love with one of the Lenox Disney pieces, so I was thinking about starting a collection of them. I saw somewhere that Lenox no longer has the rights to do Disney pieces. Is that correct?

Also, do any of you know of any good sites for these collectors or a list of what is available. I found the two official Lenox sites, but the one piece I like is not included....just wondering how many of these pieces there are!

Do those of you who collect them consider them more as an investment or just as a possession I "had" to have. Mainly, I'm just wondering about the value of these items if I decide to no longer collect them in the future.

Any information would be appreciated.

My wife and I just got our first piece of Lenox... It is Mickey in a Top Hat and is Fantastic... We are going to go after more of the Fab...

At our local Disney group, they were talking about the new pieces Lenox is coming out with. So it would appear that they will continue making pieces.

The Lenox pieces are IMHO like the WDCC pieces. The value is whatever someone is willing to pay for them. If you like them and plan to own them for awhile, go ahead and collect. I buy many of the Collector's Society pieces but don't consider them a hedge against inflation.

I just recieved the new Lenox Holiday Catalog in the mail and there are 6 Disney items. 4 Pooh's, A Jiminy Cricket, and a Mickey Santa.

Shop around for them. In addition to the Disney Stores and Galleriesand the theme parks many gift stores and some of the larger Department stores (Macy's, Filene's) will carry them also. You might just find them on sale. If you are a DVC member you can use your DVC card at the Disney Stores and Galleries to get 10% off. Not sure if you can use the Disney Card. There are so many stipulations with that as what you can and can't use it for I hardly use it.

For the most part the Lenox pieces are not limited and not numbered. The only limited one that I know of is the Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket piece that was issued specifically for the 2000 Disneyana Convention. That was LE 500. It was the first piece that Lenox has ever done for the Disneyana Convention. Any one else know of any other Lenox limited's??

My best advice for any collection is to buy what you like and have fun. They are gorgeous. I love my Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket from the Convention. I'll be getting the new Jiminy Cricket and waiting on pins and needles until they do a Tinker Bell.

There was a beautiful Sorcerer Mickey with a spray of gold stars that was a numbered LE of 2000.

That's right megashark. I forgot about that one!!!

That Sorcerer piece is georgeous!!! Amazing what they did with those stars.

Anyone else know of any other limited Lenox pieces??

I don't know whether you'd consider Winnie the POoh a Disney character or not, but a limited edition of Winnie the Pooh and his honey pot was done for the International Collectibles Expo this year. It's an edition of 2000...I think. Lenox has also been doing Disney Christmas ornaments for umpteen years. They also do a line of Disney bowls, candlesticks, plates and so on.....those have appeared at the Lenox Collectilbes store not far from where I live. Hope this helps.
