Question for CMs Regarding Holiday CM Package

My sister retired from Disney after ten years as a CM. As a retiree, she receives the holiday CM package each year.

Included in the package are a couple of park passes (plastic tickets). The document said they are to share with family or friends. In past years, she was able to give one of the passes to my daughter so she could take a friend to a park (my daughter has an AP). She has never had to have my sister along to use one of these passes. They worked just like the paper passes CMs would earn each year.

This year, my daughter took a friend to MK. The gate CM would not allow her friend to enter the park because my sister was not along. No where in the documents that came with the holiday package did it say that the CM had to be present. The gate CM told my daughter that it states clearly in the bylaws that the CM must be present for the pass to be used. Confused?

Does anyone know if this is true? Did the gate CM just think the pass had to be used like when a CM takes guests in with their Main Gate pass? If things have changed, it really should say so in the documents included with the holiday pass.

Perhaps your sister gave your DD the Spouse Pass in error instead of the Guest Pass?

Yes, the cast member has to be present in order to use the Holiday ticket. The cast member must use their MEP and each guest will tap in with their Holiday pass. I am also a retiree and it has been this way for the 7 years I have been retired.

Could it be that your sister has in the past given your daughter one of her two "Complimentary Tickets" which are given to Retirees? Those tickets do not require that the Retiree be present. Maybe this year she unintentionally gave your daughter a Family Holiday Celebration Ticket which has for as long as I was a CM, over 22 years, required that the CM be present.
