Hi all!

I'd love to hear from any of my fellow Canadians--are you a passholder?
What type of pass? How often do you go?

I've been going once a year for about 4 days straight with Maxpass, would a Flex Pass be around the same pricing/worth investing in? But from what I've gathered, you have to reserve dates ahead of time and you cant do more than 2 consecutive days?

I'd love to learn more regarding Annual Passes, different tiers and how they relate to Canadians/out of country Disney lovers! :)

We had APs once back in 2013-2014. We timed a May trip followed up with a March trip the following year so we got two trips for a Deluxe Pass and we only had 1 day, our first trip, where we were blocked from the park. That was back when the price of a Deluxe Pass was significantly cheaper than the price of two 5 day PHs though and well before MaxPass. We also did save money with the AP discounts which was nice. Between the two trips we spent 20 nights in Anaheim so we did get our value out of being able to go to the parks as frequently as we liked.

Honestly though, we find now going for 8 nights/7 days and doing 5 days in the park and taking 2 days to do other stuff and completely take a break from the parks our ideal vacation.

Unless you could go twice inside of a year I'd say it's not worth it.

We've (we being DD and me) have been going to DL annually for the last 13 years. We have been AP holders 4 - 5 times. We have always gone Signature (or equivalent) because I want to be able to go all of the days (with the exception of Christmas - don't care about being in DL during those weeks) and because DD is in high school, the passholder blockouts mean that Signature just works the best for us so we can go in the summer.

One time, we were able to wring three trips from our passes - went in May, then again in December and the next year in April. That was great value for the pass.

However with recent price increases, and the exchange rate, it is getting less and less economical to upgrade. Really though, it is the 30% exchange that kills it for me. If the dollar was at par, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

We bought APs in August 2016 to cover 8 days in the parks for our anniversary trip, that was the only time we intended to use them but in February sitting in Aulani with my parents we got chatting and looked into a trip for June 2017 over my birthday since our APs were still good and we found availability at VGC with our DVC points we booked it. (the next week my parents were in Kauai with my sister, brother-in-law and nephew and ended up booking a trip to WDW for December 2017 and invited us along and we did that trip too - apparently we like to plan our next vacations on our current vacations)

We are very seriously considering Flex APs... will be our first APs. We are looking at November for a second trip this year. We would be mixing "good to go days" with a couple for booking, and don't mind being ready to book right when the window opens for those days. If we miss one of our days, Knotts it is.

As PP said, if you can do 2 trips in one year it makes sense financially.

We would never consider it if it wasn't for flex option. But that option only seems great if you can go mid-week (we can't except in summer) or not holidays (I'm a teacher... holidays it is) OR if you can plan in advance (that's us).

So I think it depends on the person, but if you are planning on going for a serious chunk of time, it may well be worth it.

We had AP’s in 2015-16. Went Dec 2015, May 2016 and Dec 2016, so got 3 trips in our year. I got a Signature and my daughter a Deluxe. Prices were cheaper then and they didn’t have Flex passes. I got the Signature for higher level discounts and incl photopass at the time.

We have 5-day PH (got through air miles rewards) that we’re planning to upgrade to AP’s during our April trip. Have plans to go back in Oct and Dec this year and hopefully one more trip in Feb/Mar 2021 before they expire.

Our trips are usually 5-6+ park days each trip and the 2 days of reservations on Flex is too hard for us to plan around. We like having the option to go into the park for a couple hours here & there and doing some other things during the days too.

Our April trip has 2 blockout days for Deluxe, so as soon as we use our Magic Morning, I’m planning to upgrade to Signature so we start getting the discounts. Was going to get Deluxe for my daughter again, but with having to add MaxPass on to the individual days that we wouldn’t get the bridge costs and having one DL blockout on our Oct dates and 2 blockouts for our Dec dates which we could spend doing other things, I may just get us both Signature. Seems like a splurge, but we’ll see.

It is fun experiencing different seasons & love our “Year of Disney”
