Question for anyone at Aulani now (or recently)

We are heading back to Aulani in 3 weeks. For anyone that is currently there or has been there recently, I would love to know if you can see whales from the property. Or at least from the grass at the outer edge of the property. I'm trying to decide if it is worth hauling my expensive telephoto lens to Oahu with me. If the whales are visable, I'm going to try and bring it with me. But I don't want to haul it if they you can't really see them. (I know I would be able to see them from where we normally stay in Maui but we've never been to Oahu when the whales are around.)

Thanks in advance!

Mahalo!

We were there in January, and we could see them from our lanai on most days, at various times. We were on the highest floor. One day we ate lunch at Ama Ama and were told we just missed a show out in front. We have been to Maui before, and it is not quite the same at Aulani, but we could see distant breaches and tails. In Maui, you could easily see them from shore at our resort almost all day. For us, we were really disappointed because our whale watch tour was cancelled from Aulani because were were the only ones signed up. It was a really slow time. They rescheduled us, but we were cancelled again because the sea was too rough. I am a huge whale lover and was very sad about that. Although we loved Aulani, we are planning our next trip in 2016 to Maui during whale season because I really missed seeing them everywhere.

Thanks so much - this is helpful. Dive shop says the activity is slowing down so I'm hoping there are at least a few that hang around for a few more weeks!

I hope you see some too. I know they are still viewable in Maui in April. We were actually in Maui one year during the first week of May and say some of the stragglers on a snorkel trip.

I just got back from Aulani last night. I did not see any whales while there, and had the upper Ama Ama veranda booked each day with a view of the lagoon. We were on Maui for a week prior and saw several.
