Question before we buy

Hello,
I need to ask all of you knowledgeable DVC members a few things....
before we buy I wanted to know what availibility for the studios in each resort would be for june july and august? My husband is a teacher and I'm an teachers aide. We can usually only visit then. I read all the threads on buying where you want to stay. My family has decided the AKV, so before we take the leap I would like to know if it would be difficult to get a studio 7 months out for the summer months, and when DVC's are the hardest to get into so we would just book our home at those times. The reason being is That I like to try everything! thank you all in advance for any info you can provide

If you do it right at 7 months out, you should be able to get something. But, lately, there have been more resorts booked up before 7 months hit. You could always book at your home resort and then try to change it at 7 months. If it meant you could only stay at AKV, would that make a difference to you?

Thank you for the advice I know my family would'nt mind, I don't know if i would love it we'll have to take a vote.... i guess we'll have to see

Some resorts are easier than others. For example, HHI is very difficult to get in the summer time for any kind of room. We sold our OKW points and bought Hilton Head points so we could get HH easier. We have never had much trouble getting OKW ressies, Saratoga is fairly easy to obtain as well. I don't know your degree of familiarity with Disney and DVC but I do have one piece of advice. If you are satisfied with Studios then don't ever stay in a one bedroom. Once you do you won't be able to ever go back to a studio.

My family is so spoiled that we can't ever feel comfortable in a hotel room or studio after staying in the one and two bedrooms.

we are very familiar with all the resorts after a few different tours and staying year after year (paying through the nose) at all different mod and deluxe resorts. you have a great point about the 1 bdrs....I'm going to reallllllyyyyy try to keep going to the studio until the kids start to complain(or realize) we can have more room. We are thinking about 200 points. I've explained to everyone we can stay longer if we get the studio. We are hardly ever in the room so they would rather stay longer....we'll see how long that lasts Thanks again .....I would appreciate any other input
