First of all, look at my countdown clock! Hurray!!!

DH made a reservation for us at the Yachtman steakhouse. He wants to us to get really dressed up for dinner but I don't know anything about this restaurant. Will we look like dorks if he wears a suit or dress shirt and tie? Is it casual dining or a little more upscale?
Thanks.

I have been twice and have not seen anyone in formal evening wear. Most of the people have been in shorts and their regular everyday WDW clothes. We dressed up a little bit but not evening wear and I felt fine about it. MY friend wore slacks and a button up ****r. I wore cords and a nice polo shirt. The time I took my Mom and Dad, Mom wore a dress though not a fancy one and pop wore slacks but then he might even wear those into one of the parks.

Last time I was there I was wearing my wedding gown. It's not unusual to see someone dressed for dinner there. Many people are dressed resort casual.

You will see a little of everything. There will be people in shorts and tee shirts fresh from the parks, some in resort casual attire, and some dressed up. We had my sister's wedding night dinner there in December and we all wore resort casual attire (guys had on khakis and button down shirts, ladies wore slacks, sundresses, capris, etc.).

By the way, the food is wonderful!

We too have seen both. For an anniversary dinner I wore a dress and my husband a polo and dockers. I have seen suits though also. Enjoy

While most people wear resort/business casual, it's certainly not unheard of to see people dresed semi-fromally there.

I've seen full parties in business attire many times.

We have often seen people in coats and ties and nice dresses there. Personally, I think shorts are too casual for this restaurant even though people wear them alot.

Wear what you want and have a great meal. We love the food there and the service is always wonderful.

You won't be out of place no matter how you dress at YSH. If you really want to dress up, then by all means do so!!

With the exception of Tank Tops and Bathing Attire, you get all types at YSH. Me, I like to dress up when I dine here, makes it feel more like a Special Occasion.
The restaurant has a fine dining feel, the seating staff had white sport coats, white shirts and black ties. The servers wear a white tuxedo jacket and shirt, black cumber bun and bow tie.
White linen tablecloths in a relaxed setting.
One of my favorites!
