If you do not get the fastest finger question correct does that mean no matter how you play during the game you will have a 0% chance of making the hot seat? I have lost count at the number of times my family & I have answered the 1st 5 question correctly, but we are never in the top 10. Only one time one of us were in the top 10 & it happened at the end of the game & it was my Dad who was in 7th place. So if anyone can answer this I would appreciate it.

I think this attraction is so not worth the time....I would answer correctly and would have my finger over the button as soon as it lit up I pushed it. Once I made it to #10 but the same seat numbers keep winning....They were either CM or had won in the last 30 days so couldn't do the hot seat so they had to drop down to another winning number.

Answering the fastest finger question correctly makes absolutely no difference in your ranking during the play-along part of the game. If you listen to the host as s/he explains the game, you'll learn that you not only need answer the question correctly, but you also need to answer the question quickly. We're talking fractions of seconds separating the top scoring players. I know I'm quick and even then I sometimes have a hard time getting to #1 on the hotseat list.

There are people who really enjoy this attraction and play it often. They've figured out how to have their answer recorded as quickly as possible and it helps them get to the top spots. As another poster pointed out, many of these folks are CMs or have been in the hotseat too recently to go back so your rank goes up.

Good luck when you play on your next trip!!

I understand you have to be fast when putting in your answer & I don't see how much faster my family & I have to be because, we always have our fingers on the letter if we know the answer. Also I am a bit confused. You said something about Cast Members being in the hot seat. I thought the rules were they can play along but if they are picked, they are not allowed to play?

CMs can play along, in the "stands" but must decline if they make it to the top of the list of top 10. Also, anyone who has won in the past 30 days, can still play along, but if they make #1, they also must decline, so it would go to the next person on the list.

The fastest finger question only matters the first time and has nothing to do with the questions asked afterwards. You gotta be fast and correct when pushing the buttons. I made it in the hot seat once, only because the #1 person declined, so it went to me (I was #2). It was the most nerve wracking experience of my life!

As soon as you know the answer, start pushing that button over and over again. You don't have to wait until all the lights light up on your keypad.

Good luck!

I, too, played it several times and thought I was "fast" and didn't make it into the top 10 ever. But then last year, while someone was in the "hot seat," they happened to ask questions that I knew while many others apparently didn't because I ended up in the "hot seat," and several of my family were in the top 10 with me. I just did it last weekend, too, and made it to number 8 and DH was number 10 at the end of the game. This time, it was due to us knowing a pretty obscure question that we're sure a lot of other people didn't know. I think a lot of this game is luck of the draw. If you know all the answers and so do many others, your odds are lower than if they ask something that is a rare fact that you happen to know. I hope I explained that well enough.

But I also agree with the other posters who said there are CMs in the audience, too. I've seen CMs have to decline to take the "hot seat" when they were number 1. But that means that you could have been number 11 and not known it because they only show the top 10 on the board.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I knew the rules before because I have been this attraction more then once, but at least now I know the fastest finger has nothing to do with how your score is. Also when was it that you got into the hot seat because the person with the highest score declined? Last December I saw someone decline to play & this maybe a long shot but was that you who got to play?

I didn't get into the hot seat on the times I saw a CM decline. I got into it last August and was number 1 on the list, but I was only number 1 because the majority of the audience didn't know some answers that my family and I did. When I was number 1, my DD was number 4 and my DS was number 8. I forget exactly what was asked, but I remember that there was a Catholic question (I was raised Catholic), and I think either a military of American history question (something not well known, but we're a military family and I'm a history buff), and so that's how 3 out of the 4 of us managed to get into the top 10. I say just keep going to it if you enjoy it and you may get lucky and know the answers when the majority of the audience doesn't. If you get one right and most people get it wrong, that really pushes your score higher.

You don't have to answer the fast finger correctly.....it doesn't really matter. What does matter is how fast and correct the other questions are. My friends friend who was 12 at the time got down to number 9 on the top 10 so i guess you just have to be fast and accurate.

I usually press the button really fast repeatedly as soon as know the answer. This tends to give away the answer to other people though since it makes a distinct noise. I'm usually in the top five (as long as I know the answers!)

Millionaire is my favorite attraction at WDW!

You do need to get them correct and do it quickly. Last year my 13 year old ended up in the hot seat and my son (18) was in the top 10 a few times. As for me...well..........that is another story :rotfl:

I think the key to getting your answer in quickly is to press the correct answer AS SOON AS it appears, i.e. starting pressing B as soon as it appears, and pressing it a lot. We always play when we are at MGM, and DH and I are frequently in the top 1o, and I think that is why. I agree with the previous poster though- the pressing of the buttons does make a distinct noise, and I have often wondered if the person in the hot seat could here the clicking when the right answer appeared.
BTW, a few weeks ago, when the game ended, they checked the board to see who would have been in the Hot Seat if there was more time. Wouldn't you know it was me! I have never made it before, and it would figure there was no time for me to play!!! That is the story of my life- close but no cigar! ;) GOOD LUCK!

I've made it to the hot seat 3 times (had to decline once-- same trip).

To get in with the fastest finger, you don't have time to think and answer correctly-- your best bet is to just put in a random sequence as fast as possible, and hope its right-- that's why a lot of young kids who you wouldn't think know the answer get in the first try.

To get in after that, you have to 1) know the correct answer to every question BEFORE they read the answers out, and 2) as soon as you hear the right answer, start hitting that button as fast as you can (it helps to have your hand around the back of the chair in front of you, and hit with your thumb). If the answer is D, then you have to KNOW the answer is D when they read the C answer, and start hitting D as soon as they read the C answer. The devices are activated when the D answer flashes on the screen, so you don't have enough time for your brain to process what the D answer is.

It works-- in addition to actually being number 1 three times, I have also been in the top ten every time I played, and had family members in the top ten by doing this...

You can't hear the clicking from the hot seat (I thought of that and tried ;) )

Actually, I've used the clicking for help a few times from the hot seat. This only really works on the easier-type questions, because that's when more people know the answer so the clicking is louder. One time I used it was the question about how tall NBA basketball nets are...choice B looked right, but as soon as the host read choice C, there was a lot of clicking...I went with C and it was right! So you can definitely use that strategy if you listen carefully.

This approach bothers me as it not in the spirit of the game. You should make it to the hot seat because you knew the answers. I have heard of groups coming in together, each assigned with random letters to push so one in their party gets to the hot seat. It spoils it.
My 15 year old daughter got to the hot seat knowing the order in which four presidents served. She made it to the 64,000 question. You can often tell, though, those people who faked their way down vs. the one who are there because they are bright.

Could have been! We were there the first week in December. We went to MGM twice, on the 5th and the 8th. I think I was in the hot seat on the 5th.

It was not you because I was at MGM on the 26th.

I disagree.. Just because you don't know the answer to the fastest finger doesn't mean you won't do well at the other questions. My family (2 adults, 4 kids ages 9-15) have been in the Hot Seat a total of 27 times over the past 3 yrs. Out of the 27 times I think the person winning the hot seat has actually known the answer probably 3/4 times. The highest anybody has answered correctly is 125,000 missed the 250,000. We have made it over the 32,000pt question 8 times and not necessarily the same times someone made it into the hot seat with the correct answer. So, just because you guess the fastest finger doesn't mean you are not bright, just the opposite it makes you extremely bright for figuring out the odds are in your favor if you guess vs taking the time to figure it out.

Well, I disagree. Again, in the spirit of the game, I don't think the idea was to press random answers in the hope of making it to the hot seat. I think if you ask most people in that audience, they would prefer to watch someone in the hot seat who got there by their own skill, not by accident.
