My family - me, DH, two sons, two daughters and MIL and FIL are taking a trip in September. :cool1: My husband and children really want to visit the water parks and Disney Quest. However MIL and FIL are not interested in going to those at all.

When I talked to Disney reservations about purchasing the Magic Plus option for our tickets they said that we would have to purchase for all parties in the group, even if two people will not use the tickets. Everyone has to be on the same package.

We are going to be on a 6-day MYW ticket, therefore will get 4 visits to water parks/Disney Quest.

Sooo, my question is... since I have have to purchase the Magic Plus for my in-laws who do not want to go to the water parks, etc., will I be able to use those extra credits for me, hubby and kids? Or are the four visits credited to a specific person?? Does that make sense?

I am still trying to figure out if we are better off just buying daily passes or going with the Magic Plus for $45 per ticket considering that I also have to pay the extra $90 for my in-laws two tickets since they will not be using them...

THANKS!! Stephanie

Are you getting the free dining plan?

If so, then you HAVE to get the identical tickets for everyone or you lose the dining plan. If you aren't getting the free dining plan, you should definitely check into it....the expiration to book it is on 8/20 or 8/21 (not sure which day)

That being said, you are mentioning credits....I assume you are talking about their park passes?

If that is the case, then no, you can't use them for anyone else. Disney now has implemented "Biometric" scanners. When each person uses their pass for the first time, they will be required to put their fingers in the Biometric scanner. It then ties them to that ticket. No one else can use it. If you didn't get the non-expiring tickets, then the unused days will expire at the end of their trip.

Now...I do believe you can go for a lower ticket for everyone, then go to Guest Relations and pay the difference to upgrade specific tickets. That would enable you to get the lowest for your In Laws but add on for yourselves when you get there.

Get the minimum (lowest common denominator) tickets for your package for what family members want.

Yes you can, after you get there and check in and the tickets/roomkeys are issued, have individual family members add more features to their tickets one ticket at a time. The cost is the same, $48., for the plus pack compared with buying a separate ticket at the gate.

Obscure hint; OT: For 5, and 6 day expiring tickets with plus pack, you can add a fourth and/or fifth plus for three dollars each. This is accomplished by adding a sixth and seventh day, respectively which days you don't have to use. For non-expiring tickets you get these extra plusses for $14. each which is still less than separate waterpark admissions, and also get to keep the extra park days for the future.

I am new at all this Disney planning stuff!! It has been a while since we have been!! Can you please explain the hint??? We will have 6-day MYW tickets (without park hopping and without the no expiration option)...

Is the hint you were talking about only for the nonexpiring ticket option??

Also you can just add the Magic Plus individually to each ticket after you get there and not have to add it to everyone's tickets?? That would be great!!

Sorry I'm so confused!! Thanks so much for your help!

Ok, this is very similar to our situation also. We are going to be at Disney on the 1st through the 8th and we have purchased the free dining package also.
We have bought a 6 day base ticket and plan to add on the plus part when we get there at our resort. Our in laws are going as well, but one of them does not want to go to the water parks, so she will not be adding the plus on to hers, but the rest of us will. Basically if you buy the basic ticket, even with the free dining, you can then add on whatever you want to whichever ticket you want. Or so this is what I believe. If anyone knows any better, please let all of us know. What part of Georgia are you from, I am from the northwestern area of Georgia. :bounce: :wizard: :wizard:

Hey Shellylynn

I am originally from Savannah but moved to the middle Georgia area about 7 years ago.

We currently live in Macon...

Where are you??

This must be the Georgia thread :teeth:

I'm in Cumming, right near Alpharetta.

Purchase the 6 day Park Hopper tickets with your room, that way all tickets are identical and you can still get your dining plan. Then once there, take the tickets that you desire to upgrade to any Guest Relations and they can upgrade them to add the MPP option. Your resort may be able to do this, as well.... which keep the tickets on your room key. Just ask after checking in.

This may pose a problem with the suggestion to just add on the Magic Plus when we get there and not add it to in-laws tickets...

We have four children and DH, me and two sons will be in one room and MIL, FIL and two daughters will be in another room. So, will the daughters tickets be linked to the in-laws tickets?? Will I be able to purchase Magic Plus just for daughters and not for in-laws, or because they are in the same room will they have to be on the same plan???

Thanks for all the help!! Nice to see all the Georgia people here too!!

Yes, you can add whatever you would like to your childs' tickets without messing with the inlaws tickets. The tickets are independent of the room, even if they are printed on the room key. If you are worried about it, tell the front desk that you want the tickets printed on regular ticket stock instead of on the room key. They can do that, too. The only reason they have to be the same for booking is to get the dining plan. Just take them to any Guest Relations and add what you would like. You have 14 days from the 1st use to add on to them in any way.

Thanks so much eeyore0062!! That helps the budget a little bit!!! $90 more spend somewhere else!!!

Thanks
