I am currently waiting for a resale contract to come up TSS for 125 at Boardwalk and as soon as it does I am gonna snap it up (Really do hate all this waiting !!! )

Anyway we were gonna get a 250 BWV contract but have decided instead to get 125 BWV and then try and buy 125 BCV early next year (We just couldn't decide which was our favourite resort !! :confused3 )

Right I will get to the point eventually. We want to purchase the 125 BCV contract direct from Disney as we want to keep the exact same contract for both, and think it will easier to get the same Use Year if we buy from Disney but here is where the problem lies. We want a March Use year but are not looking to purchase the BCV points until maybe June or July of 2007.

My question is if I want a March Use Year but I purchase the points in June/July 2007(Or maybe even slightly later !), will I get any of the 2007 points or will I have to wait until March 2008 to get any points allocated. I just don't want to purchase a contract in 2007 and not be able to use any of the points until the following year when my use year comes around again.

I hope that makes sense, it always does in my head but not so much on the screen !!! :goodvibes

Also if worst comes to the worst and I have to buy 2 different use years can anyone that already has 2 different use years tell me any problems they encounter with not having all of their add on's on the same contracts when it comes to making bookings etc. :thumbsup2

Thanks in adavnce and sorry if I have not made myself clear

Lets see if I understand this correctly.

You currently are not an owner but are waiting for a 125 point contract resale for the BWV. Then you plan to purchase a 125 point add-on directly through Disney. Correct?

Waiting for a specific contract amount like 125 points may take you a while and being a new owner will make it harder for you to get it through ROFR. But lets say you do, Disney won't sell you an add on for the March use year you want for the BCV unless it's the same use year as the master contract or at least 150 points.

The easiest thing would be to simply add on the 125 BCV contract for the same use year as your original BWV contract.

Unless you get really lucky and have a 125 point BWV contract with a March use year that comes on the market that you catch in time and get through ROFR, your plan could be difficult to achieve.

If you buy in June or July (possibly not much later than that) of 2007 from Disney you will get the 2007 March use year points.

Good luck.

Thank you for taking the time to answer !! :thumbsup2

I know how difficult it is gonna be to get the specific points that I am looking for , which is why we were originally gonna buy the whole 250 at BWV, but have decided that we would rather wait and take some risks then not get the two resorts that we really want :woohoo:

You have answered the main concern that I had about whether I would get the 2007 points or not. What I was most concerned with (As I know the wait for BCV points is a crazy length of time) is that I would put my name on a waitlist in say Jan for a March use year but no points would come up until say July time(again this is all just guess work), but then I would of already passed March and I was concerned they would say "Sorry your use year has already pased you gotta wait till 2008 now to get the points". I'm glad to see that Disney would sell me the contract with the points still attached.

Well at least I think that I have figured that out right !!! :)

Thanks

Let me also recommend that you adjust your request with TSS to 125 exactly (though you may want to give them a little more leeway) OR 100 or less. That way - if a 50 point contract comes up, you can buy it and then buy the other 75 through Disney in chunks as small as 25. When looking for specific numbers, it seems Disney has more flexibility and the waitlist for BWV doesn't seem too bad usually.

As for not having the same use years, it is doable - but takes GOOD planning and accounting of your points. We have 4 resorts, with 3 different member numbers, and 2 different use years. Some mornings in the shower I run the hot water until it's gone as I play the different scenarios out in my mind. But it is doable!!

When you purchase an add-on from Disney, you get current-year points with your purchase. So if you purchase a March UY contract between Mar 01, 2006 and Feb 28, 2007, you will get Mar 2006 UY points with your purchase. If you purchase that March UY contract between Mar 01, 2007 and Feb 29, 2008, you will start with March 2007 UY points.

klaubaugh Thank for the feedback :thumbsup2

I have widened my search a little bit with TSS to anything "up to" 125 with a March Use Year, so hopefully that will give me a better chance of finding some points !!! :goodvibes

Lisa Thank you, that is exactly what I wanted to know !!! :yay:

A few other points about add ons: your dues will be pro-rated the first year, based on the date you get your points, usually within 24 hours of paying your deposit. So if you purchase your add-on on, say, June 1, 2007 you would be billed for 7 months worth of dues (for June 1 through Dec 31, 2007). The bill will be issued when you close on the add-on, usually in about 6-8 weeks.

Also, even though it could take up to 2 months to close, you can use the points as soon as they are deposited into your account. They also usually waive the normal banking deadlines. So if you purchase a Mar UY contract in, say, Jan 2007, you would start with Mar 2006 UY points. Even though you would be past all banking deadlines and those points would normally expire on Feb 28, 2007, they have been letting people bank those points into the next use year. You would want to do this as soon as the points are deposited into your account, unless you intended to use them before they expired or wanted to rent them for a stay before Feb 28, 2007 or transfer them to another member.

Good luck! I did exactly what you are doing (started with a resale contract through TTS and then added on through Disney) and it worked out well for us.

Woohoo thats even better news Lisa, especially the part about extending the banking deadline because I was really worried I was gonna have to use up all the points really quickly.................so thanks for the heads up, that has really helped :thumbsup2

Glad that you did the same and it worked out well for you !! :)
