question about use year/point

Hello, another question before purchasing...

let's say my use year is March. and I get 200pts every year.

I banked 200pts from last year so it is going to be 400 available total until September.

1. Does it mean I have 400 points available until September 30th or September 1st?

2. Does it mean I get 200 pts on March 1st?

3. If I want to make a ressie, Do I have to use those banked 200pts until September by staying any resort or Is it ok to just "Make a ressie" until September?

Let's start fresh. If your Use Year is March you get an allotment of points on March 1 that are good until the end of February or else must be banked. You can make a reservation any time within 11 months as long as you will have points available at the time of your stay.

If you have March 2000 points that have been banked into 2001 they must be used by Feb. 2002.

Using your example. March 2000 points would need to be used by Feb. 28, 2001. These have been banked so they now must be used by Feb. 28, 2002. On March 1, 2001 you will get 200 more points. You now have 400 points to use for stays prior to Feb. 28, 2002. If you like, you could borrow 200 points from your 2002 Use Year and have 600 points. If you did borrow...the banked and the borrowed points must be used by Feb. 28, 2002. The "regular" 2001 points are still available to be banked into 2002. I know that probably confused you more so ask questions again if you like.

I'm not sure why you think September has anything to do with the Use Year. It doesn't.

Points are issued on the 1st of the month.

they are good for twelve months.

if banked, they are good for an additional twelve months.

Of course, baning deadlines must be followed, but lets not confuse the issue.

I saw some other person's DVC site and it was saying that...

1. You only can bank 100% of your points only 6 months.
2. after 6months, you start losing points gradually, like after 8month from use year, only 25% can bank etc...

Does your post mean we can bank 100% of points from last year until next year??

That is a completely different context.

It means that if you haven't used your points and you are 6 months into your use year, you can bank all you points into NEXT year.

As you keep putting off banking your points, the percentage of your points that you can bank decreases. I forget what the actual deadlines are, but I will make some up.

up to the sixth month of your use year, you can bank 100% of your points into next year.

Up to the eigth month of your use year, you can bank 50% of your points into the next use year.

Up to the ninth month of your use year, you can bank 25% of your points into next year.

I am sure I am wrong about the month, but I am close, but those are how the percentages decline. All of the points that are eligible to be banked, are good for the entire next use year.

The important thing is this--if you are not going to be able to use your March 1, 2001 points by February 28,2002 then be sure and bank them within the first six months (by August 31,2001)-that way you can bank all 100% of the points and all 100% will be available to you from March 1, 2002 until February 28, 2003. Be careful though. Once those points are banked in August, you cannot use them until March 1, 2002. (You can make a reservation with them but the reservation must be for March 1, 2002 or after.) So, if you've banked the points and then there's an opportunity for an unexpected trip in November of 2001--you cannot use those March 2001 points. You could make the reservation though by borrowing from your "new" March 2002 points (not the banked ones from 2001).

The 11 months refers only to making reservations. You can make ressies at your home resort 11 months before your date of departure. So if you plan a trip for July 15 to July 22, 2002 (just an example), you can make the reservations on August 22,2001.
