Question About Unused 2 Day Ticket

I am at WDW right now, with my my parents who have 2 day park tickets. They are not going to be able to use both of these days, but would like to use one day at Epcot tomorrow.
From what I have read, it seems they have 2 options:
1) Add a no expiry option to the 2 day tickets, so they can use them on another trip.
2) Don't use the 2 day tickets at all - just purchase a one day ticket tomorrow and save the 2 day passes for another year.

I just want to confirm that their 2 day tickets do NOT expire, as long as they don't use the first day, correct?

Are these new tickets, dated since Feb 23, 2014? A new one-day ticket for Epcot is $94+tax. $40+tax to add no-expire to the existing tickets, if they are dated later than Feb 23, 2014.

Choose 2, Do not use the 2 day tickets now but instead save them for a future trip and buy a new 1 day ticket for this time.

3. The tickets will not expire sitting totally unused.

1, Add the no-expiry option, is in most cases a bad idea.
1a. A third and additional days needed or desired will be charged at the high non-expiry rates (the 4'th and succeeding averaging $45. apiece as opposed to $11. apiece.)
1b. You will not be able to add yet more days come the second vacation since, after having used the first day more than 13 days prior to that, you can't upgrade the ticket any more.

ticket expires 14 days after 1st use unless it has no expiry!
