hi, hoping i can ask this here and you all can give me some advice. googling gives me a plethora of different answers. :goodvibes

i am transiting heathrow next month, and my first flight arrives at terminal 4 and departs terminal 5, and the second arrives 5 and departs 4. i have just under 4 hours on the first trip, and 5 on the second. is there enough time for me to travel to the AA lounge in terminal 3 on either trip? i know it doesn't take long to get between the terminals, but i'm always worried about going through security and/or getting lost.

appreciate any advice you can give!

If you use the Bus internal transfer then transit between each terminal takes about 20 minutes once you get through immigration. However, you do have to go through security again and that can take from very a quick 10 minutes to several months when they have a bad day. So Yes you can probably do it ok, if it's a smooth day, if not or if your first flight is late then go to Terminal 5.

Also if you are travelling One World, and have AA lounge facilities, (though not if you are a paid Admirals Club Member, rather than an Plat or Ex Plat Membe)r, you should be able to use the BA lounge, which is better than the AA ones anyway, especially First.

Hope that helps.

Cheers Larry

thanks! very helpful. the security thing is where i'm more nervous about getting held up - especially with the new regulations about turning all electronics ON, i imagine things will get tied up. OTOH, both of my flights get in quite early, and previous experience tells me it's quite empty at those times.

i would be paying for the lounge. i'm only gold on AA/ruby on one world (3000 miles short of the next level!), so not entitled :\ i am flying BA on the to/from US legs, but regular economy class.

i'd really just want a shower - flying from asia so the showers are quite refreshing. i know they've got free ones in 4, but i've never been able to find them, and always feel rushed through on arrival to go straight to the next terminal.

Last year I did Terminal 4 to Terminal 3 by the free Heathrow Express, the entrance was right by the Yotel where I stayed overnight, it was so easy I couldn't believe it, took about 15 minutes.
