When I pick up food from applbees curbside, I am never sure what to tip.
Is it 20% of the bill is it just a dollar or two?
Thanks

Call me cheap, but I just cannot bring myself to tip 20% for them to do probably less than is done at a McDonalds drive through. I do tip, but just 2 bucks or so.

We usually give about 2 or 3 dollars also. Unless we order alot then we give them a little more.

I usually tip about 10% for curbside service. It's just not as much work to bring out an order as it is to wait on a table for an entire meal.

I agree and I'm a server myself, with $1. or $2. because they are putting you're order together and making sure any special requests are taken care of, so they are providing a service to you...but so are the employees in fast food restaurant drive up/counter too and they are not in a tipped position. It's totally up to you and how you feel about it.

The people that work the curbside are usually paid a hostess wage, which can be $8-10./hr. Whereas here in NH we make $2.38/hr because we depend solely on our gratuities to make a living.

I tip the full 20%. It takes a lot more than you'd think to get a to-go order together. Inside servers have lots of support people--greeters, kitchen food runners, bussers, etc. that help with service. On to-go orders they do it all.

well, actually they probably do a bit more than that.
They have to take the order, package up the order instead of just running the plate out, make sure it's bagged properly, add condiments, which probably have to put in little tiny containers & make sure the timing is right. They are probably doing the whole order themselves. At a fast food place it's done by everyone.
I used to hate doing take out orders when I worked in a restaurant. It's a PITA. I would at least tip 15%, usually there are no drinks, so the tab wouldn't be as much as it would if you dined in.

Exactly.

So some say 20% some say a dollar or two.
Thanks everyone for the input.
