I just bought a very small contract through resale so at a later point purchase a smaller contract through disney. I would need to buy 75 points. I probably wont be able to buy a new contract until pbbly sometime next year. :guilty: Will the price pbbly be a lot higher than $98 for current members next year? I know right now they have the $83.30 per point price with a minimum 120 purchase, that is just too much for me right now though. I'm only 23 so I don't have a reason to get a unit big enough for a family yet. If I wanted to go ahead and finance now 75 points through Disney, would they ask for 10% or 20% down payment? Also, since the APR is the same 9.75% for a 5 and 10 year contract, does choosing a 10 year contract end up costing more if I pay it off in less than 5 years? Its nice to have that little protection of paying less in case of emergencies. Thanks!

Also... I own at OKW August UY.... I want to buy 75 points at SSR. Is it guaranteed I will be given the same use year? I would definately want the same UY.

It's impossible to predict future DVC prices (although they do tend to go up). At your age, unless you have a well-established credit history Disney will probably ask for a down payment. The good news: while financing for 10 years and paying off in 5 is not cheaper than financing in 5 at the same rate, it is cheaper than paying off in 10, so you can flex for your "little emergencies" but still save a bundle by paying off quickly when you're able.

A different question is whether the whole purchase is appropriate right now. You're young, you have other expenses to look forward to and you don't know how you might link up with a spouse or significant other in the future. You might not want to wade in too deep right away.

You'd have to specify your preferred use year during the purchase. But if your guide tells you that it's available, then you can certainly nail it down.

this was a big price increase for DVC - so no I don't think it will go up alot next year - if at all. (MY OPINION - ask your guide)

financing no the 10th year won't cost your more if you pay it off sooner. DVC doesn't do the extra charges for paying off early.

however remember that you get a better rate if you use the bank draft - so the extra you would have to remember to send them.

if you get the add on from DVC - then yes it will have your current use year.

if resales you know what the use year is before you contact them.
if you have good credit then 10% is fine.

IMO the price will not be much higher than the retail $98, but it WILL BE much higher than the $83.30 that is being offered right now.

75 points X $98 = $7350
120 points X $83.30 = $9996

That is really a tough call.

But if your are going to buy 75 points why not also buy them resale, I am sure you can get them for less than $98 per point. I mean paying $7350 for 75 points retail vs paying $7800 for 100 points RESALE on a deal available right now from the board sponser is no contest, and that resale deal has banked points.
