Question about taking Grandma

Hi all. I used to lurk on this board when I was taking my mom to Disney and you all were so helpful. Now I'm helping a friend who is taking her mom. Her mom will use a wheelchair in the parks but is able to get out. It's mostly about the distance. The other concern are those moving floors that you step on when you are getting on a lot of rides. Grandma probably can't manage those. How does that work? What are the alternatives? Do they stop them for her? Should they use the wheelchair entrances? What about exits? How do the ride people know she needs help jumping off a ride?
Thanks much in helping to make a magical trip.

First, there aren't that many rides that use a walking conveyor. For Buzz Lightyear's Ranger Spin there's a special line and you enter the ride that way; because, they can't stop the ride at the regular line. You get off there, as well. This is an easy ride to use the special line. For Spaceship Earth it's not stopped and I wouldn't do it. For the Haunted Mansion, I believe they slow it down, but I'm unsure if they completely stop it. At the end of the ride I usually remind the CM standing at the exit of the ride we need help on such rides.

Those are it for the main stream rides, but if there is more someone else will chime in.

I think boat rides can be challenging for some. It's a big step in and out of most of them. If you try them I would warn the CM nearby it will take you longer to board and get off. We always help with lifting and holding the person getting on and off the boats if they can't do it on their own very well. Another challenging one would be test track. It a bit hard getting on and off that ride and it goes pretty fast doing it.

Also, keep in mind that some rides allow the wheelchair to get on the ride completely like Buzz Lightyear, Jungle Cruise, and It's A Small, Small World and the boat ride in Mexico, too.

they cannot stop the TTA and Peter Pan - all other moving walkways they can stop or slow.

And the "all the other" moving walkways to which KPeveler refers move at exactly the same speed as the ride vehicles - whether that's standard, some degree of slow, or stopped entirely. Actually, TTA does as well - but since it can't be stopped, if she's not fast enough there may be a problem.
