The $179 rate that the Swan is advertising for a couple of weeks before Christmas--do they normally offer this rate every year at this time? We're going next year during these dates, and if they usually have this rate or similar, it would probably sway me to book here.

Last year, on December 14th, the following announcement was made on this board:

"Swan/Dolphin pricing Alert for December 15-23, 2006
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Folks, Just wanted to alert you of a great price for December 15 - 23 of this year. The rate is $129.00 plus tax per night at both the Swan and Dolphin hotels for a standard view room. This rate is now available to everyone and is an excellant opportunity to go to see Christmas at Disney."

We currently have a rate of $169 at the Swan for the week before Christmas this year, 2007. Hoping like crazy something like this comes out this year too! Good luck! Here is the link to the thread:

Wow, we currently have the $159 rate at the Dolphin for 12/22-23. I'd be very happy if it went down even further! I booked through DU -- if the rate goes down, will they automatically adjust it for me?

I went to my AAA office today to get a quote for the Swan Dec. 14-19 next year. The website was listing $209 with AAA; the agent was quoted over the phone, directly from the hotel, a rate of $179 for these dates and that wasn't even with AAA discount! She said the contracts had probably not gone through yet, that was just the regular rate for those dates.

As an aside, I had her check WL for the same dates. Disney quoted her $225, which is rack rate for standard room on their website? Which looks like no discount. They weren't out of AAA standard room rates; the CM said that was the rate. No one's website is matching the quotes by phone!

Highly doubtful. Gotta keep an eye out for rate announcements then call the hotel directly ASAP!

Will do that. :thumbsup2

I also signed up for the S&D email newsletter, so maybe it will show up in that. Although I don't think I've gotten any yet. :confused3
