Question about stroller as wheelchair

I have a 4 y/o son on the Autism spectrum. Our last trip to Disney World we got a GAC with a stroller as a wheelchair and it was really a life saver for us because he hates crowds and standing in a long line being jostled about by everyone else puts him in melt down mode. So here's our new situation...we are planning on going to Disneyland this summer and we also have a new baby who will be around 1 for this trip. I've been debating about getting a double stroller that has the place for the older Dh to stand because I know he won't walk the whole day by himself and he'll be pretty big to be in a regular stroller. He already thinks it's great fun to put his feet on the ground when we are pushing his umbrella stroller and make us stumble, but he also really seems to need that buffer, no matter how small. I guess my concern is will it be a problem that the stroller will look like it's mainly for the baby who has no disability? Obviously we would only be using the card for that function at times when my 4 y/o is standing/sitting in it as well. Another option we had considered was getting a wagon for both boys to ride in. Would the wagon be able to be used as a wheelchair since it's for the same purpose of giving him personal space to keep from getting overstimulated by the crowds?

You cannot use a wagon in Disneyworld. I would consider renting a double nonumbrella stroller like a city mini or city elite so that your son has the space he needs and its not as easy for him to put his feet down.

Disney does not allow you to use anything that is pulled behind you for safety reasons.

As the others posted, wagons are not allowed.

Other people have used double strollers. As long as the stroller is 32 inches wide or less, it will fit in lines.

We once used a "sit n stand" (is that the kind you are talking about?) as a stroller as wheelchair with no problem, thing is, other people in line don't know or care which of your kids are disabled, and the CM's simply honor the pass. How about a double jogger? higher off the ground and you won't have to worry as much about the older one hopping off. we found DS could "cocoon" better in the nice deep seat of the jogger with the canopy pulled over him. I just wanted to point out that the queues at Disneyland are much more narrow than the ones at Disney World so you may have some issues navigating the lines. Just something to think about when choosing a stroller.

I missed the part about Disneyland.

DL does have a lot of attractions that are not accessible thru the regular line than WDW has. For those, there will be another wheelchair accessible way to get into the attraction. You would be able to use those entrances with a wheelchair as a stroller. To be wheelchair accessible, a line needs to have a path 36 inches wide.

Disney's California Adventure was built with accessible lines, called Mainstream Lines, and you should have no problem bringing the stroller as wheelchair into the Mainstresm Lines.
