Question about Splenda, Iced Tea, and other Diet & Caffeine-Free options

So I was pregnant last time we were at WDW and didn't do artificial sweeters, but of course now I'm trying to at least lessen my calorie intake if at all possible, still trying to lose baby weight. Is Splenda available throught WDW now? It's so common everywhere else, so I hope so! :)

Also, does anyone know how caffeinated the iced tea is? I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine, but can do some iced teas at night if they're not super-loaded types (my body is getting more "used" to it now - right after pregnancy and not having it at all, I shake after a sip of coffee!). Maybe someone else with a caffeine sensitivity would know how you reacted to it?

And are there any other caffeine-free, diet drinks available for sodas (or is there another option on the Dining plan?)? (other than water ;))

Thanks SO MUCH! (and we're staying at Pop Century if that makes any difference, but we'll be eating all over)

I know they have splenda, equal and regular sugar (I know because I really like sweet n low and they don't have that.) I'm not really sure about the caffeine in the the ice tea but I know that you can get lemonade and apple juice/orange juice.

Through my travels at Disney, I have yet to see too many caffeine-free, calorie-free options. The diet soda option is only Diet Coke in most places. You can get bottled diet sprite in the gift shops and hotel food courts but it is not "on tap". The iced tea is Lipton, I believe (standard black tea).
I am also very sensitive to caffeine so other than tasting the flavored sodas at Epcot (and I think most of those are probably caffeine free but have tons of sugar!), I stick to water.

I know they have Splenda and Equal but the only caffine free soda on tap is Coke which I hate. Coke is way to sweet for my taste. That is one thing I dislike about Disney that most of their soda options is Coke. I usally cary Crystal Lite on the go with me whereever I go and just pick up a bottle of water and make my on flavor drink. If I can get to a store I always pick up a 6 pack of Diet Rite as it is sugar free as well as caffine free and a 6 or 12 pack of bottle water. Since I am a diabetic I try to be careful what I eat and drink. I always have them make a note of this when I make my ADR'S and it saves me a lot of problems as the chef comes out before I order and they subsitue items that are sugar loaded. The menus are now showing a lot of diet/sugar free items which is very much appricaited.

the to go crystal light is a great option. Throw it into botled water and a nice option :thumbsup2

I don't drink caffeine either.....water with a twist of lemon....or a glass of wine!!! But that won't do for breakfast!!!:lmao:

I am also "caffiene-sensitive." At home, I try to limit my intake to two glasses a day. I did the same thing at the World; limited my brewed tea intake to 2 glasses.

The remaining meals I asked for water or bought bottled water, and used crystal-lite-to-go.

And I love splenda and it was everywhere!

Thanks so much for all the info!! I'm very glad they have Splenda. :) Do they have caffeine-free Diet Coke? That's my favorite fountain soda and I order it any time it's available to try and bump up the idea that some people want a drink at night without calories, but also without caffeine (normally I just order water otherwise, but since we'll have the dining plan that seems a little wasteful to me, but not really if that's what I want).

This is not mine, it was posted on the PoP thread by jenseib

Looks like Diet Coke, Coke Zero & Sprite Zero.

oh those are great options! Is that at the Pop? That lemonade is also pretty low-calorie (although I don't think it tastes great, at least not when I get it at Costco), but the Sprite Zero is definitely diet & caffeine free and my husband will LOVE if he can find Coke Zero!

I've had diet, caffeine free coke....the only thing is I can't remember if it was at POP or POFQ....but it does exist there.

I am also sensitive to caffeine and usually only have 1 coke zero in the morning. But I find at WDW that I can have more caffeine because I am so tired at night. A few years ago at Liberty Tree Tavern, their birch beer (root beer) did not have caffeine in it. The standard Coke branded root beer (I think it's Barqs) does have caffeine. Back in the 90s WDW had caffeine free diet coke almost everywhere. I was in heaven! Not so anymore.

My father only drinks caffeine free diet soda so we've become a bit of an expert on this- he knows every restaurant's drink choices in town :lmao:

On our 2008 trip we were able to find it at CSR, Kona, and Ohana was willing to go over to Kona and get our drinks there. I'm sure there were others, but I'd have to think about it. Obviously places could have changed.

I am happy to hear there is Splenda (my sweetener of choice) and Coke Zero. I never thought I could drink anything but regular Coke, but I really like Coke Zero. My DH is also caffeine sensitive, so the Sprite Zero is good to see. I'm sure he wishes there was Caffeine-Free Diet Coke like you, though!

That's funny that we're the opposite! I can't stand regular Coke or Coke Zero (because it tastes so much like regular Coke), but I like Diet Coke. DH loves Coke Zero but can't stand Diet Coke. It's all just so ridiculous ;)

I also have a sensitivity/allergy to caffeine... so that rules out coffee and most soft drinks. I'm also not able to drink Lemonade, for the same reason I can't have caffeine. On my latest trip, I also saw that Sprite Zero is available in the refillable drink machines at Pop Century. I didn't have any trouble getting Sprite at any table service and counter service restaurant I went to. Sprite is the only soda I am able to drink at WDW. If caffeine-free Coke was available I'd be really happy, although Sprite is fine for me.
