I cannot find the thread for the POR FAQs, so I am posting my question separately. I hope you can help.

We (DH and myself) are staying at POR Jan 7th to 12th, then heading over to the WL for 4 nights.

We have booked (and paid for) a king bed, water view room.
We have requested in order of preference a non smoking, Alligator Bayou, river view (not poolview) room.

We have read to avoid buildings 15/16/17/24 due to noise, and that 18/38 are smoking buildings.

So given than which building would you recommend?
Not a concern - bus stop (have our own car), location to main buidling (will drive by to fill up mugs on way in and way out in am and pm)
Would like - to be nearish to car parking.

Thanks, we are excited about this our 2nd trip to DW

We just returned from a week at Riverside and had building 14, which was very quiet and a short walk to the food court, pool and bus stops. We never waited over 15 minutes for a bus at the South depot. The parks were packed and we never even considered driving to the parks. It was an awesome resort for us but we had only stayed at value resorts before.

We stayed in building 14 (and then moved to building 15) and I didn't like it. It WAS close to the parking lot, busses and food court but the room didn't feel "special". Basically, you walk out your front door and you're staring at the parking lot. It felt like a Motel 6. I would probably suggest a more interior location to get more of the resorts ambiance. It may be a little more of a walk, but at least you'll feel like you're at a Disney hotel and not a Travel Lodge.

We'll be making our 1st trip to POR next April. (just dh and myself) I was looking for the same type of room as you are and found that AB bldg#27 seems to be just what I was looking for. I have requested non-smoking, river view, king in bldg 27. When I send in my request 4 days prior to our arrival I will also request a 2nd floor corner room(if there is such a room). Bldg 27 isn't a very far walk from the food places, the main pool the bus stop etc. Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.:wave2:

We stayed in AB14 and loved it. This building is very close to the main building and just far enough away to still be very quiet. We had a second floor room on the corner overlooking the large pond and mill. I think PORS is a 6 key resort at a 5 key price. The landscaping alone in the AB area is enough for me. The mansion side was very pretty but I preferred the AB side. You will love this resort. We never had to wait more than 10 min. for a bus. We would grab the bus from just outside the gift shop. Go to this site for some real good pictures and a map of this resort..smjj

We just returned from a stay at POR in building 38. When we checked in a made some requests -nonsmoking, corner room, close to food court. The cm told me that our room was already booked and he couldn't change it. In my dismay we headed to our room and was very pleasantly suprised. We were given main floor corner room river view. It is such a beautiful and peaceful resort we didn't mind the walk to foodcourt. You could walk through old mans island and this was fantastic. DS and DD loved the wildlife and theme of AB.
I'm sure whichever room you get you will be happy, after all you will be at disney!!! ::MinnieMo
