I have read on the boards a lot that the room only discount is better savings then the free dining for deluxe resorts. We are planning Sept 2014 so I priced out both for this September and free dining is better. does that sound right??

Is poly usually only 20% off for fall room only? we got 35% this winter and I would love it again!!

I would think that depends on whether you have 4/5 adults that would qualify for free dining vs. kids, toddlers, only 2 adults etc..

20% off for deluxe, that stinks maybe something better will come out later.

To give you a little perspective, our October visit this past year, we fell in the time between the two room only discounts (which we usually use) for our CR stay. The only discount I could get was a FD PIN code. Our room at the CR MK view was over $500 a night. Room only would have been much better for us as it was just hubby and I.

It really does depend and it works differently for everyone. We are 2 adults with 4 kids. Now all kids are over 10 so if we had to pay for dining it would run us about $300 a day. So it depends on the discount offered for room only at the time. We always got more than 20%. I would wait.

Enjoy!

Depending on the resort, room type, number of people, their ages, etc., FD can come out to be the better deal even at a deluxe. We are a family of 4 (all adults) and always stay deluxe and sometimes FD gives us the bigger savings over a room discount. I always tell people to run the numbers because it's different for every family/situation and it's not a cut and dry answer as to which one is the better deal. Another factor to consider is the amount of the room discount when comparing the two promos. A 20% discount on a $400/nt room is $80 vs around $110/nt for the DDP for 2 adults, with the FD savings increasing if there are others on the reservation. So there's really no way to tell unless you do the math.
