Question about room only discounts

This may sound silly, but how far in advance do you need to make "advanced reservations" using the fall room only discount on the website. It didn't specify how far in advance this would be.

We are unsure of our November travel plans. I don't remember how close I was able to book last spring with room only. We own a house in Orlando and might decide last minute to go down and stay on property.

Thanks!

I'm a little confused by your question, but I'll take a stab at it. If using a Disney promotion/discount, book as soon as the discount is available, as the room/category you may want later on would not be available. You can cancel without penalty anytime before 5 days prior to your reservation (room only).

I understand that I will be risking no room availability and have to take whatever is available for the discounted rate. I'm wondering if you can book a discounted rate online a day or two only ahead. So if you you decide you want to go to Disney today and want to book a hotel for tomorrow, is it possible to use the discount (provided you are within the dates of the advertised discount)?

The current fall promotion is valid starting November 10th through November 22nd. I'm wondering if that date was the beginning of the fall discount or if it is a 'floating date' that changes as you get closer to it. Meaning you can only book a discount more than two weeks out. See what I'm saying? I can check again tomorrow to see if its still November 10th start date on the website. Just wondering if anyone has ever booked a couple of days in advance and used a room only code for a discount.

I remember doing it about a week out last spring, I think.

It depends on the promotion. Every promotion has a "book through" date, so you have up to the end of that day to book for the dates covered by that promotion. Yes, you could book today for two days from now, if the days you want to book for are within a promotion date range and the promotion has not been withdrawn because the "book through" has passed. The link below shows the current promotions, notice that they all have a "book through" date. Generally, the "book through" date is prior to the end of the dates of stay being offered, but not always.

Nothing is carved in stone. Remember, Disney can withdraw a promotion at any time, if the number of rooms set aside for the promotion has been filled, or they could extend a promotion if they still haven't filled their rooms for a particular time period.

Most public discounts end about a month out from travel. If you have an AP and possibly FL resident rates you can book a few days prior with that I believe.
