Question about Resort Bookings

We are thinking of adding on a few days at WDW after our cruise but it's not 100% sure. So have a few questions (as I see bookings are now open for next year):
1. If you book a resort, do they adjust the price if it goes down?
2. What if they add free dining later on or special offers? Can your reservation be adjusted? Or it's only for new bookings?
3. Is it any cheaper if you book resort with park passes? Or is it the same cost if done separately? (This is from Disney directly)
4. Do resort prices generally go down or up?

1) If you book a resort now and discounts are released later, you would need to call to modify or try modifying online to see if the discount applies to your booking. If it doesn't apply to what you have booked and are flexible with resorts/rooms, you can always modify to something that is in the discount inventory. WDW will never automatically adjust a reservation to a lower price.

2) Yes, you can try to modify your reservation to take advantage to any released promos

3) If you purchase tickets separately, you will need to pay in full for them at time of purchase and there are no refunds.

4) Rack rates generally go up. Discount releases will cause prices to go down. Ticket increases are not unheard of as well. Personally, if I were you, I would book a package that looks appealing now, put down the $200 deposit and then keep an eye out for promos. As long as you cancel 30 days prior to check-in, you get your $200 refunded.

1. If you book a resort after prices have been released for the year, then the price will not change as long as you don't make any changes to your reservation. If you booked a resort before the prices for that year were released, then the price would be adjusted to the current rate. Typically, once Disney releases that rates for the year, like they did with 2020, then the prices remain the same for the entire year. But discounts will be released during the year that you might be able to take advantage of.

The only time that room rates are cheaper if you purchase tickets at the same time, book a package, is when Disney has a special sale or promotion. But in general, room rates remain the same regardless of where you buy your tickets.

Resort rates go up every year. I can't think of any exceptions.

Thank you. So basically you can book and get 100% refund or make changes up until 30 days prior?
We have a cruise booked end of next summer Mon-Fri....so was thinking....we could head to the parks when we disembark and then leave Monday morning (with school starting Tues - a bit aggressive I know, but while we're in Orlando area). But of course, that all depends on flights and such...if we can do Fri-Mon...or Fri-Sun, or not at all.

Thank you! This is very helpful. I guess I am comparing to hotel rooms or a cruise booking where prices are always fluctuating. But for Disney hotels, it sounds like the price stays the same (unless a promotion or something comes out). Correct?

As for booking hotel room and tickets as a package, it doesn't sound like there is any advantage to bundling them (again, ignoring any promotions)....If I'm understanding you correctly. SO for us, we could book the room now, say Fri - Mon, and then add in tickets once our plans are finalized (which won't be until the fall when airline tickets come out).

Let me know if I've understood correctly. Overall, it sounds quite flexible and it might be good to book now to make sure the room at the resort doesn't sell out. And we can always cancel if needed, or adjust our dates if they change, or if any promotions pop up.

Correct about the pricing. There are a few benefits to packages, one being that tickets purchased separately are not refundable, but if you book them as part of a package, they are refundable for as long as the package is refundable. You also get Disney luggage tags & some coupons with a package.

Yes you can cancel.
You can Only adjust your dates by adding or removing a day IF THAT NEW TIME FRAME IS AVAILABLE TO BOOK. It seems to not make sense but Disney has a computer algorithm that is invoked that minimizes “orphan nights”. Promotions can only be added IF THE NEW TIME FRAME IS AVAILABLE TO BOOK. It is essentially cancel and rebooking the new package

That's good to know. So if we book a package with room and park tickets (4 night but 3 day tickets) and we cancelled then we would get full refund. If buy tickets separately at a later date and then need to cancel then thee is no refund on tickets.

I"m thinking of case of buying for next year now in case of ticket increase for 2020. But we are Canadian and sometimes they have ticket deals for Canadians
