Question About Purchasing and Booking

If you want to do a big trip for March 2020, I would look to rent for that reservation. Then when you purchase your resale contract, try to rent out the points to defray some of the cost of renting. I just don't think you will have enough time to purchase and close on a resale to get anything for March 2020.

I also don't think the welcome home will help much with a GV if they buy direct. GVs don't land in cash inventory much.

If you did buy direct, you have access to your points right away to book. Disney does allow you to purchase with a Disney Visa and with that, you get 6 months of 0% interest, if you were looking at January, then this would give you time to pay it off as if “cash”.

Pretty sure the is a $10K limit for charging on a Disney Visa. You'll need multiple cards if you wanted to charge the entire contract (sounds like you want a lot of points). Also, that would only work if you purchase direct.

Disney will work with an owner to break up the charges. I did that with them. They let me put half and then the next billion no cycle do the other half. If your credit limit is high had enough, then there are ways to make it work.

Thank you so much everyone! You all have helped us tremendously!

For now, we have decided that we are feeling a sense of urgency that isn’t conducive for making a great decision. We plan to book Bonnet Creek for our March vacation while we continue to look for our perfect DVC contract. In the meantime, I’ll be stalking all the DVC posts here at the DIS. ;)

Thanks for the info. We split ours on multiple cards, but didn't think to ask them to delay to the next billing cycle!

If this was in place it has changed. I just put our entire Riviera contract on it.

Huzzah! It is so gratifying when the time we spend sharing our thoughts on here helps someone make a decision. Thanks for sharing.
