Question about purchasing a MB?!?!

This may be a silly question but....I know that we're receiving a MB with our package, but if I want to purchase a different MB in the parks, will it be linked to my package at the time of purchase or will I have to do something on my own to activate it?

you will just have to link it to your my disney account

we had to get them in the park after arriving and them having glitch in system where they couldn't give bands (we booked day before we left lol) anyway go to a shop, and if you ask they will help link it up, some stores have special designs that can only be bought in certain parks or areas. once its linked up, any band thats linked can be used they don't push each other out

Thanks for the info! I plan on keeping my original MB with me at all times just in case, but I've seen a few online that I just can't resist! LOL

When you purchase the new magic band the cast member will ask you if you need to link it "now", or "later". If you tell them "now" they will link your current magic band to your new one and all of your information will be duplicated to the new band except for room access and room charging. If you say "later" you'll have to manually link your band using the my Disney experience app.
