Question about possible GAC card?

I've read the sticky thread about the GAC card, but I still have a few questions, hopefully it's okay to post here.

My mother has just been diagnosed with OstoArthritis. We have an upcoming trip planned, June 8-17. She has never been one to ride the coasters, but she does enjoy Jungle Cruise, IASW, and the safari ride at AK. She has problems standing for long periods of time, and if someone bumps up against her hard she can be in pain for a length of time.

She by no means wants to abuse the card, but would it be possible to get one for her based on her limitations? I'm not sure exactly what needs the GAC card covers, and thought this might be a good place to start.

Normally for people with mobility and/or stamina problems the recommendation is to use a wheelchair or ECV, as the GAC is more for "invisible" disabilities. I have osteoarthritis and use an ECV regularly.

I'm going to expand on this. I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Tomorrow we're going to the parks (live here and can randomly decide to go) and I will be in a wheelchair, otherwise I would not make it. I have severe pain problems with the fibro, and cannot walk far or stand for more than 5 minutes at the very most. The wheelchair even causes great pain for me after about an hour, but Disney is my most favorite place and the place I still feel "normal." My dad is going with me and he can help, but is there way to get a GAC so that I am able to do just a little bit more than I usually do? I think this may be what the OP is asking as well, unless I'm missing something.

Sorry I didn't explain myself better.

This will be our first time renting a ECV, and there are rides that my mother would still like to ride. I was under the impression that you had to have both the ECV and the GAC card in order to use the diabled entrance (is that even the right term? don't mean to offend).

If you have an ECV, you would not need a GAC. The reason for the GAC is to let the CM (Cast Members) know what types of 'help' you need. If you have a wheelchair or an ECV, they can tell that you have problems with mobility and if the regular entrance is not accessible with a wheelchair/ECV, they will let you use whatever entrance is accessible.
