Question about PoP and buying a cooler

We are flying down in two weeks and had signed up for the fridge exchange for PoP. Seems that the fridge is on it's last leg and was wondering if PoP store has some type of disposable cooler? Just needed something that we could keep milk in for the kids and other small stuff.

They don't sell coolers on property. They kinda want you to rent the fridge.

You can find the styrofoam coolers at gas stations and grocery stores around WDW. Ice is free at all the resorts.

In a pinch you can fill your lined trashcan with ice. If you have napping kids, and change the ice morning, afternoon and evening it will keep your milk cold. Or you could bring along a softsided collapsible cooler in your luggage.

Target and Walmart sell soft sided coolers that don't take up much space because they fold down. I used to bring a small one from home when we were on a beach trip.

When we have stayed at a value resort we rented the fridge for bottles (our son was still small) it worked fine for us. If you don't want to do this I agree buy a soft sided cooler or insulated lunch box at Target. You can get ice at the resort and fill it. Take a few ziploc bags to put the ice in so you don't make a mess of things when the ice melts.

We have a soft sided cooler that has a rigid plastic waterproof insert that we often use as a carryon when flying. That way we don't need to take up space in the checked bags. It's a great size, fits under the seat on the plane and then works great when we get to the destination.
The insert really helps keep the melted ice water contained. Not only does this give us cold storage in a room, but it is also good when car touring - cold drinks, sandwiches, etc.

I used to try the coolers and ice, and I found it never worked that great. The ice always melts and we are usually away from the room for hours at a time, so often I would find the milk getting quite warm when I returned to the room. Then I would be afraid to use it. I finally bit the bullet and rented the fridge at POP last time. Expensive, but the fridge was so convienent and just made a better stay in the room. Oh well - hope you fare better than we did with a cooler!

This summer, we bought a soft-sided cooler at the Beach Club giftshop.
It's located with the DVC merchandise.
