I am heading down to Disney May 5. I plan to get married in 2008. I'm still waiting to get engaged, my evil boyfriend keeps teasing me and promises it will be by July. It's even worse because I picked out the ring and just can't wait to wear it. I want to take advantage of being down there (I live in NY) and want to look at some sites for things for the wedding (reception, dessert party, welcome brunch) Any suggestions? I have also called Disney Fairy Tale Weddings and was told I wouldn't be able to really sit down with someone once I got there because the wedding date is so far off but I was free to come look at the Pavilion if there wasn't a wedding scheduled. Has anyone gone down there and was able to speak to someone about their weddings even though they weren't booking it then? I wouldn't mind just being able to flip through books they have or view tapes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!!!

I do not think you will have any luck sitting down with anyone that far out. disney does so many weddings that they can't meet with people until about a year to 18 months out. But you can visist places while you are there. Have you visited wishbook?? its has a lot if images of all the possible locations. Start there. Then narrow the locations that you like down and try and visit them while on vacation. Good Luck

That is so funny. My boyfriend told me to pick out a ring, but I have no idea when I'm going to be able to start wearing it. princess: He keeps mentioning that he has enough money saved up to buy it, so it should be anytime now! We've already decided our wedding date and everything, we're getting our cart ahead of our horse a bit! We are going down to Disney this Friday, April 28, so maybe he has something up his sleeve. We'll see!! :cloud9:

we did, but that was awhile ago and it sounds like they are a bit more strict about it?

we had appointments in 2000 and 2002 (we were originally going to get married in 2004) b/c we were at WDW for vacation. We just asked questions, looked through books, and visited the WP. Maybe if they have time you will be able to? :confused3

Even if you are unable to talk to someone you can go have a look at the locations etc. You can go into Francks and look at the things in there too.

We were engaged in August of 2005. We contacted Disney and they gave us the same line. We had to wait until early febuary of this year to go back and have an official site visit for our June 2007 wedding. Even that for them was pushing it :sad2: . We told the we were not sure of the date and thinking may/june so since it was 1 year 4 months they would talk to us. To get into franck's i believe you need an appointmant but I am not sure...I know a receptionist sits right at the door and we were asked our appointment time. That being siad they were really nice so who knows :confused3

If you can't talk to anyone i would still check out all the sites on your own...anything you are interested in. The convention centers are always open as well as the pavillion, sbp and the gazebo. Have fun and congrats ;)

It was originally the same way with us. We were going to do a site visit in May of this year because we thought we'd be married in June of next year (we have since changed the date) and they said they couldn't make an appointment for us since it was over a year away. Instead we rescheduled our visit for August (which was the only other time this year I could do it) and we're doing a combination site/planning visit then. We ended up moving the wedding date to May of 2007, so it's kind of a moot point now, but we've already reserved the rooms for August and I'd much rather have a planning visit than a site visit.

I was going to say that my EM has mentioned that their offices are not on property, so the SM and EM s that are there may be waiting on appointments. This may not be so but from what I gathered it did not sound like they were all hanging out at Francks which is what I had envisioned.

unfortunately chicky disney wont accomodate a meeting or viewing at this far out. you can view some of the sites on your own though like the yacht club gazebo, seabreeze pointe, etc. at this point just enjoy your disney vacation & keep hoping for that ring.

Thanks everyone for all of your help. I guess I am just going to have to print out a list of all of the places to visit and try to fit it into the schedule while I'm down there. I guess I should also try to fit in packing my suitcase sometime too since we leave at the end of next week.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a place for 30 guests or so? I know I want to use the WP but as for the reception i have no idea.

P.S DisneySweethrts i wish you luck on your trip :shamrock: and hopefully when you come back you will have some exciting news to share with us.

I think there are quite a few sites that could work for a party your size just a few are any of the convention centers...they all have rooms that can shift to accomadate virtually any party size,Ariel's at the Beach club, attic room at the boardwalk, califorina grill private rooms. In Epcot I believe living seas (this may have a min on head count...not sure 100%) the uk terrace, the french arm, or the american adventure vip room (I think they are still using this although it may be a corporate thing now) Good luck.

We're in the same boat...No set date yet, but definitely beyond the 18 month period. WDW is our "plan a", so we will be taking as much of a peak as we can get during our December trip. Venues in NY are more accommodating, obviously, so we also have a more local "plan b". Have fun on your trip and happ planning!!
