Hi, just wondering, I have booked a room only for Nov 19-27, 2015. If Disney keeps to their free dining offer times, I should be checking in on the last day of free dining. So my question is, since I already have a room booked, could I possibly still get a PIN and if so, about when would Disney send it to me? I am avoiding booking a dining plan or tickets until I see what offers come out for 2015. When I booked my room only, the person said I can convert it to a package later. Right now I am in a Mermaid room in AOA hoping for free dining in a suite but if not, my boys will be mad we are staying in a "girl" room, LOL.

There is no rhyme or reason behind pins, so no way to know when or how you'd receive it. It is still possible to get one even if you're already booked - happened to me this year. Do keep in mind that all discounts, including pins, are subject to availability. Even if you're already booked at that resort, it doesn't secure the discount that comes out for you. You'd need to call and convert to a package right after the discount is released (or you receive the pin) while they still have availability under the discount.

This is off topic but hello neighbor! I live in Niagara County as well, small world :)

In 2012 I got my free dining pin code (for November time periods) I believe in May of that year. If I had to guess, I'd say that they've been coming out later in recent years.

I'd be very surprised to see LM rooms as part of any free dining promotion, but who knows. In part, will depend on whether or not Disney continues to scale back on its discounts.

As others have said, you can still get a PIN even if you have an existing reservation. I also wanted to mention that if you do change to a package later on, your RO reservation can't be converted to a package just by adding tickets (and DDP, if you choose that). The RO would have to be cancelled/refunded and the package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit. Since RO and packages are different reservation systems, money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other. Also, as has been posted, getting a discount applied can be done if what you have booked is available under the discount as having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied. With that said, sometimes you have to be flexible with your resort and/or room type to take advantage of a discount.

What is a "PIN"?

It's a discount code that usually comes as an email (can also be a post card through the mail) that is specific to one person for a room discount, free dining, etc. Sometimes the email PIN comes with a link that you can click on to check price, availability, etc. instead of calling, but you can always call to check as well.
