Please please please do some research before buying pins from ebay dealers. Many, if not most, at 1.xx a pin WILL be scrappers. There is a very good thread on the Collectors Board that provides information as well as some reviews on ebay sellers. Just because an ebay seller has 100% or 99% feedback does not make the pins they are selling legitimate. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2213419
I always forewarn folks who want to take up pin trading that it is NOT a cheap hobby.
I know alot of folks want to allow their child to have the experience of pin trading but not with alot of investment. While I can fully understand I also always advise folks to not get caught up in pin trading until they first research what scrappers are, etc. and second till they are aware of the investment/costs of this hobby.
My daughter saves her allowance for months/years to buy legitimate pins. She trades only with CM's and for the most part has been lucky in not getting to many scrappers. However, if people continue to flood the market with scrappers then her hard earned allowance is basically going to be "thrown away"/traded for a scrapper that isn't worth anything.
