Well my dad is changing my plan from a pay as you go to a monthly plan. he was doing the whole process by phone and then the man speaking to him from the phone company told my dad he needed my permission to change my plan.

Is this normal?

He asked me for a name, address, date of birth, and also if I approve allowing my father to change my plan.

i just thought it was a bit odd. :confused3

The phone company has to have permission from the person whose name is on the account, regardless of age. Same for credit cards, I believe. DH has tried to make switches for me on accounts and always has to put me on the phone anyway to give permission.

As stated by a previous poster if it is your name on the account, then yes they need your permission. To prevent this problem in the future, just give them permission to discuss your account with your dad.
