Question about ordering from Grocery Stores

This is an intriguing idea, as we would sure love to have some basics...bottled water, bagels, maybe some fruit, etc. for breakfasts...

But how do you arrange it? How does it work? We don't have a very long "window" where we would want to wait around in our room for a delivery...

Interested in anyone's input on this topic.

OK, mind you I have the order ready to go - but, I have not yet left and haven't rec'd it.

However, this is what I did:

1) Go to Albertsons.com - register WITH THE ZIP CODE OF THE HOTEL! (mine was, I believe 92802)

2) Start compiling the order

3) finalize order and choose delivery window - we are choosing Saturday between 5:00 and 6:30.

I suppose they will arrive to deliver at that time and I will sign for the delivery and that will be that...

Now - truly different from Washington (where I live) you can even order alcohol! That was an oddity.

I think this is a fantastic thing - it is 9.95 for delivery - cab fare would be at least that much.

Ok, more questions about this...

I don't like any of the delivery windows based on our trip plans. The 8-9:30pm delivery window would have been perfect, but it's not available on my screen, and I'm assuming it won't be in 2 weeks for my trip, either.

I don't suppose the Disneyland Hotel will store my groceries for me while I'm out playing, so I need to come up with other plans.

Is there anywhere within walking distance of the Disneyland Hotel to buy things like milk, bagels, water, etc. since it's clear the delivery option won't work for me...?:confused3

It's hard moving the other way, too...I was only 17 when I left CA for college in Tacoma, but it took YEARS to stop expecting to see the liquor section! But last year in San Diego my WA-born hubby nearly passed out when he turned around from the beer section and saw bottles of vodka. :rotfl: And he did live in CA for awhile, but he doesn't drink, so he just didn't remember...

OK so to the OP, have you looked at safeway.com? AKA "Vons" in southern CA.

And have you asked your hotel if they would accept it, and asked the store if they can deliver it to the desk?

I think it's such a fascinating idea, to get a delivery from safeway, er, Von's (since I already have an account with them), for our little trip. :)

LOL! I grew up in California, but I wasn't even aware at the time - so, it's just weird! I happily added a malibu rum to our albertson's shopping cart, though... ;-)

I just placed my order and the ordering part was flawless - it remains to be seen how well the delivery part goes!

try safeway.com, they may have some better delivery times available.

Just to let you know, I registered with safeway.com a few days ago and just got an e-mail for my first delivery free. Enter code: ESHOP

I was going to post this question too! Thank OP! I still have one concern... when ordering fruit. Do they know how to pick a ripe, but not mushy kiwi?? And a rock hard kiwi isnt worth worth it's weight in dirt. This is just an example, you get my point. Has anyone ordered fresh fruit? How did it go? I'd like to order kiwi's, strawberries, bannanas and oranges.
