so I am about to book a 5 nighter for next summer (2017)and I am involved in a large group that is booking a NYE cruise on the fantasy end of 2017. So obv I will have to put my deposit down for the NYE but when I am on the summer cruise can I tell them I have another cruise booked before final payment to get the perks???? Are NYE cruises excluded???? Doubt it would work but just wanted to know if someone had a similar experience

You can "re-shop" your cruise once onboard. The discounts will be on the prevailing price at the time. If it saves you any money to book onboard, then you can cancel your current booking and rebook. If the prices have increased so that, even with the onboard booking discounts, it's still cheaper to keep the original reservation, just keep the original one.

You can't apply OBB perks to an already existing reservation, it's a new booking only thing.

Typically, the NYE cruises don't get full benefits from an onboard booking (at least in the past). The did get the onboard credit and lower deposit (on 7 night and longer cruises), but no 10% discount on the price. So, if it still falls in a block out date, you probably would be better off keeping the original reservation.

Thank you this help answer my question too!
Princessshmoo can you tell you me
can you tell me how re-shopping works, if there is a TA involved?

The TA is the only one who can cancel the original booking.. And without a way to contact the TA how does that work?

If you made the original booking with a TA, then, to re-shop, you must make an all new reservation . And then contact your TA to have the two reservations reconciled so there is just the new one.

We reshopped a cruise (2nd leg of a B2B). The category we had booked originally was sold out so they booked something close. Our TA was able to cancel the original and move the new to the old category/stateroom, so that we didn't have to switch staterooms between cruises. I'm glad I had a TA to handle this.
