Question about my FD pin

I just got my first FD pin via email today. It says "free Disney dining plan when you purchase a non-discounted 4 night/5 day Walt Disney travel company room and theme park ticket package." My question is can I only get FD for that amount of days/nights? Or can I do a longer stay with FD the whole trip?

I am pretty sure that number of days is just an example. There is a limit on the number of days you can get FD for, it might be 14 days.congrats on the PIN.

Yes, it is a 14 day limit. As above poster said, it was an example and congrats on your pixie dust!

Double check and see if there's a room discount going on at the same time. 99.999% of the time, you'll save more money that way than by getting 'free' dining

Sometimes true, but I certainly wouldn't say 99.99% of the time! When I get FD for our family of four "adults" it's a huge savings.

Let's say I stay at POFQ and got a RO discount of, for example, 25%. Okay, rack rate is somewhere around $200 a night. So that's $50 a day I could save (if I'm lucky enough to get that high a percentage off!). No way could I feed my entire family of four, including a teenage boy, for $50 a day at Disney!

If you could explain how a RO discount would work for a family of four, I'd love to hear it! I think in most cases it's for parties of 2 who are staying at a deluxe that end up making out better with RO rather than FD. For families, that FD is HUGE!

If you stay on a Deluxe, a Disney family (2A, 1Jr, 1C) would save more by staying on a RO discount than under FD even if adding basic dining.

When staying at a mod, a family with 2A, 2C would save about the same by staying with a RO discount than under FD.

Do the math...

I received a dual PIN today - RO discount and FD.

BTW, I should clarify that the pixie dust doesn't help much - the PINs are coming to my work email but on my parents address. Last time I checked, the two people listed on the PIN are my mother and my son - since he is a minor, he can't be the primary on the reservation in order to take advantage of the PIN. They did do an exception for my upcoming xmas trip (FD).
