Question about my bookings

Hi,

I have two bookings for stays in September. 3 nights at AoA and 4 nights at POR (With a cruise in the middle). I booked these on the WDW website, and not with any other promotion (that I am aware of)

Should free dining be announced, what, in theory would I have to do to take advantage of it? Would I even be eligible? Would I have to cancel and rebook (and maybe see a rise in the $ rate).

TBH, If I could get it for the same price I'd be happy, but it wouldn't bother me too much if I didn't get it. I think we plan to eat a lot of meals off site as we be with our toddler this visit and time in the parks will be very limited.

Thanks for all your advice,
SC

Are your bookings packages or room only bookings? I think that if you have room only that you will have to cancel and rebook a package in order to take advantage of free dining. However, if you don't plan on eating in WDW very much, consider a room only discount instead. Note that for either a discount or promotion, you may need to consider changing resorts in order to take advantage of the promotion/discount.

If some discount or promotion is offered that you would like to take advantage of, call WDW and ask to have it applied to your reservation. If you have a package and are changing to another package, that will be easily changed. If you have room only and want to apply the discount that will be applied to your existing reservation(if available). If you want to go from a room only to a package you will need to cancel and rebook.

Good luck!

I do this every year with my booking. I get my reservations done and schedule my dining reservations, all 6 months prior to arrival. The free dining promotions usually come out several months later. All I have to do is call WDW and attached those promotions. Never a problem.

For someone who has a current package booked that meets the requirements of the free dining promotion, they should be able to change it themselves in MDE when the announcement comes out. PP is correct in that you'd have to change your booking to a package if it isn't already, and for that, you may need to call. There's usually always some kind of ticket and stay minimum requirement with free dining. In your scenario, it may not make sense to add tickets to your second stay at POR, since you could buy all your ticket days with your first stay (assuming you'd use all your ticket days within 14 days, not sure how long the cruise is). Also keep in mind that the Little Mermaid rooms at AOA are usually blacked out, and last year standard room availability at POR was very slim so you may need to upgrade your room type as well.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think I'll leave the booking as it is, really don't want a package as I want to keep my options open re tickets etc.

Really appreciate the help, Stevey
