Need some opinions about the Very Merry Christmas Party. We have 13 people so estimate the cost to be around $800.00 for our group. Is this party worth the money? Is the parade, fireworks, etc that much different than just going to Magic Kingdom on the other nights. We on the fence so am looking for opinions, and any other info that explains what all goes on at this party

We have already purchased our tickets so I hope you get some good responses that say it is worth it. I love Xmas!

Okay, you asked for opinions, so I'll give you mine. :goodvibes

We went to MVMCP last November. I coughed up the $$ for tickets, thinking it would be a magical experience for us; however, it wasn't. :(

My husband and I were at the park with his mother and our 3 children (ages 7, 4.5 and 4 months at the time). The baby was no problem - she slept in the sling and was very mellow. My older two; however, were tired at dinner and were lukewarm about going to the party, even after having gone back to our villa in the afternoon for quiet rest time.

I decided to press on because we wanted to meet the 7 dwarfs (the ONLY time you can do this!) and see Cindy's Castle lit up, parades, etc...and, well, I spent all that money! However, the crowd was HORRIBLE. They were trying to wrangle non-ticket holders out of the park and people with tickets were stampeding in. It was a mass of strollers and bodies everywhere. The shops were all mobbed and it was just chaotic and no fun.

To be fair, the night before saw VERY heavy rain and one CM told us that ticketholders from the previous night were allowed to come on this night to make up for the terrible weather. She said it's normally not that bad. I don't know for sure if this is correct information, just going on what one CM at the entrance/exit gates told me.

Tired kids + awful crowds = not at all a magical experience. We stayed for an hour, then left. Trying to keep the kids with us (not because they were disobedient; rather, because there were so many people we were clinging to each other at a few points), fight our way to the featured party attractions and deal with chaos in the dark was just no fun for us. I would not do it again - and I am a HUGE fan of all things Disney. This was the one disappointment we've had in our trips to Disney.

Now, I understand that we might have experienced a bad night - I've heard other people just rave about it (which is why I went!). Here are some questions to ask yourself:

1. Would you be upset if you spent that amount and it rained? Was too crowded? Didn't meet your expectations?
2. Is this money an amount you're taking away from doing something else? (Say, upgrading dining plan, taking a tour, buying souvenirs, etc.)
3. Would you have just as much fun going to the various resorts and seeing their decorations? We had a ball going to the GF, WL and CR and seeing all their decorations.
4. Would you do bodily harm to anyone in your party if they became ill and couldn't go, thus meaning you've spent money on their ticket and can't get a refund? :-)
5. Are you a huge fan of Disney parades/fireworks? If so, this may be for you.
6. Always wanted to meet the Seven Dwarfs? If so, this may be for you.

I loved MVMCP. As the previous poster wrote, if you want to see the 7 Dwarfs, you have to go. I did want to see them -- it was one of my three main goals for our Christmas trip. So, after we entered the park just after 6 p.m., we headed straight to where the dwarfs were coming out at 7 p.m. Got our photos and moved on at 7:15. The parade satisfied another goal -- seeing the marching toy soldiers. They were absolutely something! Mr._Klam_Chowder, a dis'er whom we met in line for the dwarfs, told us they were worth the price of admission -- he was right!

If you love Disney or are a character stalker like I am, it's worth the money.

It's unfortunate the previous poster dealt with such large crowds after a rainstorm. You can't avoid that. Absent circumstances like that one, you can try to avoid crowds by timing your visit. The closer you get to Christmas, the bigger the crowds get. Also, try to get tickets for a weekday party, when the locals are in the middle of a school and work week.

I love MVMCP. I already have the tickets for DH and I for December 11th. I wouldn't miss this for anything. It is a great time, and the park isn't crowded at all. I mainly do it for the parade, fireworks, and I love the hot cocoa and cookies. We have a picture of me singing with street characters dressed up in Christmas attire-It is a very special memory. I say try it at least once. I know $800 is a lot of money, but how often will you be at WDW?

We debated going this year but most likely will not. We did it in the past and did not feel like it was worth extra money. We are traveling with friends this year and they are going which is why we debated it.

I love MVMCP! My parents and I have gone several times over the years, and we just keep coming back. The parade that's shown at the party is only shown at the party--you can't see it any other time. They also have a special fireworks show just for the party. And then there's free hot chocolate and cookies all throughout the park. And typically, the lines for the rides are shorter. However, if you want to see characters, be prepared for longer lines--especially the ones who typically aren't in the parks (like the Dwarfs).

Just keep in mind, whether you go to the party or not, I know it's Florida, but in the winter, it can get cold, especially at night. I think every time I've gone, I've had to wear a sweater or a hoodie or something warm. Then again, I'm also from Georgia, so my definition of cold might not be the same as yours. But there was a year we went when it got down to 32 degrees. So it can happen!
