Ok, am I correct in saying that since ds will be 2 when we go, that he will be free at the buffets? We are hoping to do Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, and 1900 Park Faire- we are trying to figure out a rough estimate on meal costs, and I assume he will be free at these places. Can anyone confirm that for me?

Also, I am looking at WCC for lunch, and the menu say for the kids 3-11. Does that mean that he can eat for free there too, even if it isn't a buffet?

If anyone can help on experiences they have had with dining with a 2 yo, please share- did you always order something from the menu for them, or share your food with them? DS will go from eating a huge meal one time, to barely picking at his food the next, and I hate to spend a lot of money if he won't eat it, you know?

Thank you!

Lisa

Hi Lisa!

We went in December with my nephew who was 18 months at the time. He was free at all the places you mentioned.

We did WCC too, I can't remember what happened with him, I'm pretty sure he just ate some of my Sisters food. I will ask her tommorow, and if no one else has responded, I'll be sure to post again.

Have a great time, DN had the time of his young life, and still asks for "DZNE" every day!!!

He'll be free at all the buffets, and any family style of pre-plated meals (character meals). Yes, you can order items from a children's menu, like chicken fingers, even if it says 3 - 11, at table and counter service restaurants, but you will have to pay for what you order. he can also share with you, so you don't have to order if you are ordering something share-able -- no charge for that.

Hope that helps!

Under 3 is free at buffets.

However at any plated meals, you would either need to share your plate (re: no meal for child) or pay for a plated meal for your child.

My DS was 21 months when we were there last week. He was under 3, so even at things like the Fantasmic Dinner Package he was considered "free". However that mean he got no plate (he would have had to have shared with me or DH & my DS can eat A LOT, so that is not really an option). So we paid the child's price for things like that.

usually the child's price for dinner's is quite reasonable and most come with a drink as well for the price (not all, but most).

Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase the child's dining plan for a 2+ yr old? I posed the question earlier and the response was that it would not be necessary. But my question is...is it possible? Then hopefully we could use the extra credits at some of the signature restaurants.

If you decide to take your 2 yr old to buffets, make sure to doublecheck the bill to make sure you're not charged for it. We had a problem a Boma once. It took so long for our server to bring the check that I went ahead and took the girls upstairs to our room and left dh to pay the bill. It was wrong. Our 2 yr old was charged as a child and our 9 yr old was charged as an adult even though we went over their ages witht he server several times. It took quite some time to fix.

When we went to H& V or any character meals, buffet or sitdown, we did not have to pay for our 2 year old. They always brought out a plate of food, but we were never charged. We've done this on two previous trips . At CRT for example, my both my DD's ate there at 2, and the server brought out hotcakes & bacon. We were not charged. Also, at H & V we fixed our DD her own plate and we were not charged.

These are the places we ate and were not charged, but DD was brought a plate PSB, CRT x2, Crystal Palace x2, Chef Mickeys, Donalds x2 & H & V. We went in Aug. 2002 & July 2004.

I just wanted to clarify that I'm talking about buffet meals & character meals.

We ate at WCC for lunch on our last trip and we ordered the skillet and all you can drink milk shakes and DS2 was allowed to share with us without being charged. I would ask your server just to double check though. :)

The reason you don't want to purchase the Dining plan for an under 3 year old is that if you get it, you would also have to get park tickets for them. Everyone getting the dining plan has to have a park ticket, too. So, even if you pay for some kids' meals for your 2 year old, you will still spend less than purchasing Dining and park tickets for them.

Thanks MomofKatie. That's what I was wondering...solves that problem doesn't it?
