Question about ME and what to do when "staying" Inside Disney Resort with Family.

Hello, my question is this: my family and I will be going to Disney World in a couple of days, and they bought the whole package deal with resort, park txts, ME transportation and will be staying at Port Orleans-French Quarter. I'am not included in the package or registered with them because I have an annual pass, but I will be "staying" with them in the resort. I called ME and they cut me some slack and included my name w my family to Arrive to Resort even tho I'm not registered in the resort. My problem will be the departure back to the airport. I was told I have to add my name when I arrive to resort, but I'am Not going to. Can anyone suggest what to say at the resort's Front Desk or to ME to have them take me back to airport day of departure? Or what should I do? If it comes down to taking one of those shuttle vans, does anyone know how much it is one way back to airport? Thank you.

"I was told I have to add my name when I arrive to resort, but I'am Not going to."

You need to. When you're actually AT the resort, as long as you aren't going over the number limit for the room, they can add you without having you as part of the package. You'll need that to get your keycard to get you into extra magic hours, etc. So have the people on the reservation add you to the reservation, and that way you will be officially part of the room, without having to do the package requirements.

I honestly cannot believe you got DME to get you on the bus for free, going to the resort. I've never heard of that before. The normal way to do it is when the person like you is coming in later; the people on the reservation get to the resort and add you, and THEN you can have DME arranged for you.

If you simply refuse, contact Mears and pay for the trip back to the airport.

Well it's against the board's rules to discuss ways to circumvent Disney policy. Do if you want magic express you need to register.

DME should not have allowed you to reserve a ride from MCO to WDW...period. The only way to get a ride back to the airport is to be added to the resort reservation. If you don't want to do that, then you need to find another way back to the airport.....period.

DME is a perk provided to those who are registered guests at a WDW owned resort. You are in the wrong by trying to get something you are not entitled to.

It will cost you about $20 to book the Mears shuttle. They may even put you on the DME bus...but perhaps not. You also will not be allowed to participate in any EMHs in the parks. You will be allowed to remain in the park, but will be refused access to any attractions....you have to show your room key to do that.

Action will be taken by the resort if you are found to be staying in the room without being registered or the room has in excess of the number of people allowed.

If you did reserve the Magical Express bus to the resort, the room could be put on an audit list for occupant count, etc. The discrepancy might be caught at the DME welcoming area at the airport, or it might be caught days later by Mousekeeping or Security observing the resort corridors candidly.

OP--If you are not listed on the room you lose the right to use DME. Also you will not be able to take advantage of any Extra Magic Hours, as you have to be a registered resort guest for those as well.

Keep in mind too that you are risking your family being told they have to leave if they are caught with an unregistered guest in their room.

If you simply don't want to do the whole package, have them add you to the room when they get to the resort. You won't have to have the package that way. If you are not listing yourself because you will exceed the room occupancy that way, then you are asking for trouble.

Honestly, I would't be too sure that you will be able to use DME going to the resort. If you are not listed you will not have a ticket in the ME book to use. And if you are not listed they will not allow you on the bus. Just how are you supposed to go about getting on the bus anyway?:confused3

Thank you all for your replies and you all are right. I called Super Shuttle to make arrangements.

Still odd.
Super Shuttle operates in the Disneyland area.
Mears Transportation provides a number of transportation options in the Walt Disney World area.
The Mears Shuttle can't be reserved in advance to get from MCO to a WDW resort.

I did try to do a dummy reservation with Super Shuttle...p/u at MCO, drop off at POFQ...was told that no shuttle is available for that area.

So, you would need use Mears. And you can not make a reservation with Mears, to get to a WDW resort, in advance. You can do it when you get to MCO. As I said before...you may even be sent to the DME bus that is going to POFQ. Not a given, but it does happen, rather than Mears sending a bus/van to a resort for just one or two people.

Hopefully the OP is just confused and is planning on using Mears.

SS seems to operate in the Orlando area.

They do have Walt Disney World Resort listed as a destination, so it's possible that the individual hotels are something you just tell the driver.

But the OP should take SS to the hotel, get registered in the room, and THEN they'll be able to righteously take DME back to the airport at the end of the trip.

Even so you will not be able to get into the parks for EMHam or ride in EMHpm:confused3

And this chant is getting OLD LOL!

Just a hint. Some of us would not be bothered by that. I can't recall the last time I did ANY Extra Magic Hours for example.

OP didn't ask about EMH, maybe we should quit "posting" about it:happytv:

If we only answered questions without offering advice or our own point of view these boards would be boring!!!!!! I don't see anything wrong with pointing out something that the OP may not know.

By the fourth post if OP doesn't know they don't EMH they can't read and more posts won't help :lmao:

Who cares? It's worth knowing. Not everyone thoroughly reads every post, and posts aren't just for the originators of a post, but for the people that come later.

I think we've done ONE EMH in around 20 days at WDW parks, so it's not something that we worry ourselves about, but I still mentioned it in my post!

When I tried booking that dummy reservation, I put in POFQ..it brought up the correct address, but then when I submitted the info, it said there were no shuttles available for that destination. I imagine that Mears has a pretty tight hold on the shuttle service within WDW.

Not going to be an issue. Info is still info.

Just for kicks, I poked around in Super Shuttle's web site. I noticed that several (incl. All Stars, Polynesian) Disney's resorts were selectable as destinations but Port Orleans (both Riverside and French Quarter) were not shown in the list. Didn't proceed further into the booking process yet but it would be mighty confusing to select a destination shown and then be told there is no service to that destination.

I have tried to imput the Polynesian in, and got the same message....no shuttle available based on your criteria. I have changed the dates, I have changed the times...no deal.
Super Shuttle does not service WDW resorts...at least that's what I can see.

I got all the way to the part where I needed to enter credit card information for Wilderness Lodge. I didn't use the address - typed in "Disney" and "Disney's Wilderness Lodge" was the first one I saw within WDW.
