Question about Magic Band charges?

This will be my first time staying at a Disney resort and first experience with Magic Bands in August. As we all know, the Canadian dollar fluctuates and we have no idea what the exchange rate will be at any given moment. Rather than setting up our Magic Bands with a credit card for charge purposes, can we provide the front desk at check-in with cash that they can apply to the Magic Bands for our use? I was hoping to exchange money when/if the rate is pretty good and avoid having charges put on our credit card. Thanks!

I had my credit card attached to my MB for charges, then in the middle of my trip I asked for the list of charges, as I paid half of the charges using cash, and the rest charged to my credit card. They recommend to pay in cash at least a day before you check-out.

But if you want to pay cash for charges, just pay at the time of the purchase, it's easier to keep track of what you're spending.

They allowed BIL to assign cash to his MB when we were participating in the test back in Aug 2013.

Good to know! I was trying to avoid carrying cash around the parks. Do they wait until check out day before putting the charges on your card? If so, I can keep most of our cash in the safe and pay on our account the day before we leave. At least then the charges after check out should be minimal.

When you are checking in just provide your credit card (for incidentals as is customary for any other hotel reservation/stay) and then tell them to make a note on the system not to charge the CC as you will settle your account in cash before you check out.

It is a good idea to keep track of your expenses so every other day just ask for a statement of your account at the front desk. As in pp you can choose to pay it every other day or pay it all at the end of the trip.
