Question about looking for Transfer

Hi All,

I'm thinking of bringing some extended family for a trip in Dec 09 or Feb 10.

I have a march use year and will have to borrow from all my 2010 points to do so.

I'll also need to find a kind DVC member to transfer points to me.

I'm just not sure what I need to request.

I believe I need BCV points because I'll need to utilize the 11 month window..and they need to be 2009 points? Right? When should I start looking for the transfer? If I find a transfer soon..Would they just go into my account as 09 Use year?..and I can just use them when I make the res in Jan 09? (assuming we do the Dec trip)

You could also get 08 points and bank them once they are in your account as long as the banking deadline for those points has not passed. That way if you need quite a few points and cannot get them all from one source you could do a transfer now for someone's 2008 points and then another transfer in January 2009 for some 2009 UY points. I am not 100% sure if the 1 transfer per year is calendar year or UY but this should cover both I would think.
Yes you would need the BCV points to get the 11 month booking window there.

You get one transfer per use year, either in or out but not both. You will need to get points you can use in either Dec 09 or Feb 10 at BCV, meaning points from a Mar 09 use year or after in 09 or points for up to a year before then that you can bank.

You are likely correct you will need 11 month window and thus BCV points for times you are thinking about. An owner can transfer either his 08 points or 09 points now. You should definitely start seeking by early November because for a Dec 09 trip you would want to have those points transfered by January 09.

We have two Membership Numbers with two different UYs and Home resorts. Do we get one transfer for each UY in this case. I am not asking about transfering between the two but rather transfering points from an outside source.

Yes. If you transfer points from one contract to the other it would use both transfers for the Use Year, but if you accept points from another member you could have one transfer for each contract.
