I don't fully understand the "lock-out" unit. I requested a 2 bedroom for July but MS never mentioned about "lock-out" units. Is this where you have separate entrances for both the 1 BR portion and the studio portion? What if I needed to downgrade to a 1 BR? Would it be o.k. or would I have to go on a waitlist if there were no 1 BR's available?

Are they even called "lock-out" units or "lock-off" units? I still have lots to learn.

Thanks everyone.

Hi Rosemary, I believe they are called lock-off units. When you make your initial reservation for a 2 bedroom, request that it be a lock off unit. If you need to downsize to a 1 bedroom, they can do this for you by releasing the studio portion of your 2 bedroom unit.

The units do have 2 doors. 1 for the 1 bedroom, the other for the studio. There will be connecting doors between the 1 bedroom and studio. Unlike a dedicated 2 bedroom that only has one door between the living room and second bedroom. The studio portion of the unit will have the mini kitchen..microwave, fridge, coffee maker etc.

Hope this helped!

Have a wonderful day!

Lock-off units have 2 exterior doors and a connecting door between the units which can be locked.

If you think there's a possibility that you might downgrade from a 2BR to a 1BR then you should request a lock-off, since you can then easily drop the studio (or the 1BR if you need).

If you have a dedicated unit, then if there are no 1BR's available you would have to waitlist (assuming the waitlist was open).

A couple of nice things about the dedicated 2 bedroom - there is a large walk-in closet where the outside door would be in a lockoff, plus there is a second bathroom sink & counter where the kitchenette would be. I stayed in a 2 bedroom with 3 friends (2 per bedroom) and it was nice having the extra sink and closet.

Correct - there are no dedicated 2 bedrooms at BWV. All are combination 1 bedroom/studio. However, BWV does have dedicated 1 bedrooms & studios (no connecting doors), which I don't believe they have at OKW.

I think that if you staying at OKW that you have to request a lock-off and at BWV that is all that they have.
